Lighting your Fire

This can be the most suspenseful part of the fire, especially for the MC. If a cable breaks or a wire disconnects, the MC has to have something to say and do to prevent further embarrassment. Before I start giving you ideas for how to light your fires, I would like to cover a few things that you need to keep in mind.

#1. Plan it out thoroughly. Make a drawing of what you have in mind. This gives you a visual aid to help you out, and it helps you explain the idea to others that may be helping you.

#2. Gather your materials and test it out. If it is cheap and easy, do it 2 or 3 times. This way you become comfortable with your plan, and most problems will be worked out.

#3. Never set up a fire in haste. Do it when you have free time and you arenšt rushed. This will ensure a successful lighting.

#4. Prepare a script for the MC. I will provide some ideas for each start, but the more personalized it is, the better it is.

#5. Develop a plan B. Give the MC a flare or something to use just in case all else fails. Also make sure he has an idea of something to say to keep it smooth.

That is about it. Have fun with the ideas I provide! You should also read the section on Fire Lays. I provide some good alternatives to gas, plus some tips to ensure that it will light!
