Showamship

How the fire is lit, the costumes, and the acting. These are all factors for good showmanship. Showmanship is what makes the fire special. It requires more prior planning, but the end result is well worth it.

You know a good skit when you see on, but think about what made it good. Did the actors really get into their parts, did they bring on props? Try to make time before the preformance to practice your skits and add some showmanship. Don't think of it just as a skit, but rather as a small play. Prepare small costumes, things like hats and shirts that help bring out the character. Try to find a few props to bring on to help out with the effect. Possibilities are endless.

The most important part is to practice. Make sure everyone is completely familiar with their lines so they are less likely to make mistakes or become nervous. Try to come up with different voices and make sure that the actors are loud. Most important, personalize it!

The next time you are asked to do a skit, just think of 2 or 3 things that will add to the effect. Make it unique and fun. Don't be affraid to change it and add parts. If the extra time is added to improve showmanship any skit can become a hit.
