Be it known to all
whom it may concern that I John Bradshaw of the county of
Goochland being abt. to enter into the hold state of matirmony with Hannah Johnson Widow
of Drury Johnson dec'd of the county aforesaid and in order to doe justice to the sd.
Hannah Johnson and not injure my children I have agreed to make a jointer or marriage
Settlemt. on the sd. Hannah Johnson, and therefore do hereby give grant and confirm in fee
simple unto the sd. Hannah Johnson and her heirs or afsigns for ever one acre of land
being part of the tract whereon I now live and whereon I purpose to build a dweling house
twenty by sixteen with a shed, which said acre of Land with all the houses or other
advantages thereunto belonging I do give grant and confirm unto the said Hannah Johnson
her heirs or afsigns forever free from the claim or demd. of any person or persons
whatsoever together with all the estate she now pofsefses of two feather beds two cows
& some pewter with some other trifles of h..... furniture, being the whole of
what the sd. Hann.... Johnson had at the time of the making this marriage Settlemt.
& the sd. hannah Johnson is not to be entitled at my decease to any other part of my
estate, either by write of dower or other wayz. (Turn over) This marriage Settlement
we the parties before mentd. profefs to be well Satisfied with and doe hereby agree
to abide by In Witnefs whereof we have set our hands and Seals this eleventh
day of Feby 1784. |
