Know all men by these presents that
We Isham Goen & Canady Bratcher are held firmly bound unto James Monroe Esquire
Governor or chief Magistrate of the State of Virginia in the sum of one hundred and fifty
Dollars to Which payment will truly to be made to the said James Monroe or to his
succefsors We bind ourselves and each of ourselves and each of us our heirs Exec &
Admrs Jointly and Separately firmly by these presents sealed With our seals as stated this
15th day of October 1802
The Condition of the above Obligation is such that Whereas there is a marriage
shortly intended to be had & Solemnized between the above bound Isham Goen &
Susanna Bratcher Now if there shall be no lawful cause to obstruct the said Marriage then
the above Obligation to be Void else to remain in full force & Virtue
