Vol. 7, No. 2 .............................................................................................. Feb, 2003
Welcome to the Johnson Family News, a family newsletter for all descendants of the Johnson - Johnston families of America. The newsletter is dedicated to bringing you current news, obituaries, weddings, anniversaries, births, family history and other articles about YOUR family.
If the family newsletter is to be successful, WE NEED YOUR HELP: when you hear about a death, marriage, birth or other event in the family please let us know so we can include this in the newsletters. If you see an obituary or wedding notice in your local newspaper, clip it out, along with the name and date of the newspaper from the top of the page and mail it to us at the address on our home page.
Send us info about anniversaries (25th, 30th, 40th, 50th), births, engagements and marriages of Johnson relatives that you know of. Include the relative's full names, hometowns, dates, etc. For marriages, include where the marriage took place, the minister's name, names of parents and grandparents and their hometowns, where the couple went to school and where they now work; where the couple went on their honeymoon; and where they plan to live. On births, include the full name of the baby, weight and hospital where born; full names of parents and grandparents and their hometowns; and names of other sisters and brothers. For anniversaries, give date and place of marriage, full names of parents of the couple; where they were born; names of children and number of grandchildren; any plans for parties honoring them, etc. You can also send news about relatives in military service, school news (awards, certificates, principal's lists, dean's list, sports news, etc.), community club activities (officer of a community club, etc.).
A special thanks to all our new Family Club members. One of the latest to join is now living on the other side of the world in Saudia Arabia. Vicci's hometown is Spokane, Washington but she will be working in Saudia Arabia for a while. She has only recently started doing family research but it is hard to get much done so far from home. Her Johnston family came from Mississippi. Our membership is growing and your continued support is greatly appreciated. More importantly, we are adding to our Family Library every day. Keep sending those family records!

STUART, Va.-- A reunion is planned here 30 May, of a branch of the Johnson family that has lived on the Virginia-North Carolina border, concentrated around the Sandy Ridge community in NC and who moved, sometime in the late 1800's or early 1900's, across the border to the Spencer, Va. community. Many of the family still live in the Spencer community. This is the family's first reunion and if your ancestors are from this area, you are urged to attend. Bring a picnic meal for dinner at noon.
