Level: C
Where is it: In a deep valley east of Loma Serrano (Serrano Hill) of El Avila National Park, in front of Urbanización Altamira (Caracas city). You have to climb the hill east of Quebrada Quintero in order to find the path.
You can also get there coming from east, from Pajaritos Fire Station, but it is definitely faster coming from from Quebrada Quintero.
Description: You have to get first to Quebrada Quintero, whether using high path or low path. It is a track little known, and therefore little used and maintained.
It requires an effort similar to Sabas Nieves', because it is not as step but is a lot longer. However, it is worthwhile, because at the end you'll find a pond of cool water under the shadow of tall trees. There you can refresh yourself or even take a bath. Besides, this pond has a slide of polished stone, so you can have lots of fun.
Most of path is exposed to sun, excepting when you're getting to "Toma". There the vegetation is very thick. There are places where passing can be dangerous, so it would be better not to take there old people or small children.
How to get there: There are two main access: Walking from Quebrada Quintero or from Pajaritos. The first is shorter and is the one we show here.
- Get to Quebrada Quintero whether using the high path or the low path.
- Go on as if you were going to Pajaritos.
- Get to the top of hill at east of Quebrada Quintero, and take a small path at left.
Time: From Quebrada Quintero to bifurcation at top of hill you'll spend about 15 minutes. Then, add some additional 45 minutes to pond, totaling an hour. Also, take in account the time you spent to get to Quebrada Quintero.
