Toyota Model Codes

Toyota uses a four digit code to designate it's models
Example: RA64

  • The first letter designates the engine series. In this case, an R-series inline four cylinder.
  • The next letter indicates the body type, here the "A" body (Celica, Carina, RWD Camry).
  • The first number (located in the third position) designates the generation of the body type. Here, '82-'85.
  • Finally, the last number is the trim level. For this car, it is a GT.
  • Altogether, these four digits reveal that this car is a '82-'85 Celica GT with an R-series motor.
  • An "L" or "C" following would refer to a liftback or coupe, respectively.
