Our forefathers struggled for survival so that we may enjoy what we have now. I should think the least we can do is to be grateful to them and remember what they stood for.  We look back and see how they suffered, and here we are comfortable and have all the wonderful opportunities knocking on our doors.  Be ready to accept these; your future is what you must think about.

As I was taught, when we are born, we each have a memory of what it was like being with the Creator.  For it is He who originally created us, and it is from His space that we originally came.  However, in our birth, we forget what it is like to be in such a presence.  Look at the young ones.  They are closer to being pure than an adult could ever hope to be.  They are not conditioned to "look the other way" when there is someone in need.  They do not notice the differences in skin color, or in economic status.  As we grow older and "wiser", in my learning, we actually become more ignorant.  So, it is in each of us to look for and try to attain that childlike wonder of what we have been gifted with.  We all have a journey to make, no matter what race, religion or culture.  We each have our own way of doing things and of believing.  I am not here to try to 'convert' anyone to the Natives' way of thinking or believing.  I know this is my path, and each of you have your own.  But I will try to explain what has led me this far and hopefully you will be able to bring out a spark of something that will help you on your journey.

Most of us end up at the night time of our existance.  We look out to try and find the road, but only see the darkness.  We are unsure if we should continue to try and find the way, or if we should just go back inside and hide out a while more.  This is a great learning that I had to accept.  The darkness of night does not mean it is dangerous or that it should be a fearfull time.  Our 'nighttime' is our ignorance and fear that we let rule us.  When we back down to learning and living because of fear, we are saying we do not trust the Creator to take care of us.  As I stated earlier, in youth we are more open to the truth of our existance.  As we grow older we learn to let 'society' dictate what is right and what is real, and what is true.  That is the beginning of our dark times.  There are some people who this does not happen to.  Every culture has its' holy people that have held on to the truth.  They do not let the fear of ridicule or being misunderstood get in the way of learning.  But for most of us, me included, there is a gradual decline into the darkness that we must learn to overcome.  Each culture has its' own practices and ways of reconnecting with The Great Mystery.  I can only speak for the culture I was born to and the little that I am still learning from other Native American Cultures.  So this is not meant to be a comprehensive guide to religion. Just one persons journey out of the darkness.
