| Background: | When assembling the band that would become Marilyn Manson Impersonator & The Spooky Kitsch, M.M.I. was uncertain as to who would make a suitable bassist. He had been debating over many different talented local bass guitarists, but the one that stuck out in his mind was the bass player for Mal Can't Yell, a terrible local pop-rock group with a shockingly large following. Although the band (whose name was an allusion to the sinister demon Malacoda) was doing marginally well on the local charts, there was tension among its members. M.M.I. sensed that he could easily lure their bass player away from them and into his own band, but there was still a snag in his plan: the bass player apparently did not speak English. He was an exchange student, renowned in his native country as a talented poet and gifted thinker, who had traveled to America in order to further his study of mathematical theory. Playing the bass was his hobby and he had only joined the band because the percussionist, a casual acquaintance, had asked him. Fortunately for M.M.I., the young European bassist understood English perfectly, regardless of his apparent inability (or refusal) to speak the language. After being propositioned by M.M.I., the newly-named Gidget Gein Impersonator silently took up his part as the rhythmic backbone of the band. Though he never conversed with any of the other band members, he was agreeable enough and his somewhat-feminine good looks made him very popular with female fans. However, after nearly three years with the band, something happened to G.G.I. Despite having played with them since their very first show and enduring the subsequent name change, G.G.I. left the band. No reason was ever given, but it was rumored that he returned to his homeland. According to M.M.I., "He just walked up to me after the show and said, 'Ich muß gehen.' I don't speak German, so I had no idea what that meant at the time. Apparently, though, he was telling me that he wanted out. I was just so shocked to actually hear his voice; I don't think he'd ever spoken to me before then." G.G.I. has not maintained contact with Marilyn Manson Impersonator's Lonely Hearts Club Band and was replaced by current bassist Twiggy Ramirez Impersonator. |
