Soaring On Wings So High

This has been a week straight out of the pages of Utopia! This entry is not going to have any of my usual flourishes (barr my trademark devil), for this day my words will just jump up, grab you and wrap you in my excitement.

So I begin with all the wonderful news. I applied to Midwifery at Latrobe University. Really hard to get a placement, but I was offered a place for full time study. So next year (March) I will be training to get my Diploma in Midwifery!!!! Everyone has told me that I would make a good midwife..I am just so excited that I haven't even thought much about logistics...

Friday night, went over to new friends place (live around the corner), but it didn't seem that they or us were 'new' at all. Jay (the wife) and I both feel as if we had known one another forever. So you can imagine the warmth we feel towards each other - such a welcoming feeling and comforting! Dinner was lovely, atmosphere one of tranquility. They have an adorable child (18months) , highly intelligent and beautiful, who seems to be very musically gifted. Jay plays the guitar, so we had a sing -song. She played the guitar as we both sang and harmonized. Older songs, "Unchained Melody" ,"Time in a Bottle", "Fame" "Rivers of Babylon" etc etc... We must have sung for at least 2 hours. Then Jay taught me some chords on my guitar, and I have been practicing. Who knows, I may just be able to play soon!!!! :-)

Saturday, Kay came over. Whenever Kay comes over I know I am in for a crazy weekend... I love it!!! This is her second home (which is how we like it). Kay and hubby are almost identical in their thought processes. I sent them off shopping and they came back with Cheese Poppers, Toblerone, Dove Chocolate, Chips, Coke, Kinder Surprise (chocolate egg with surprise toy in it)...etc etc.. Sugar rushes bouncing off the cealing..it was a sight!!!! Kay and hubby both love Champelli Spumanti $2.95 a bottle. They bought 3 bottles, but were sloshed by 1.5 bottles... I don't drink the stuff (I am a discerning drinker). So I watched them giggle and talk about their 'anal retention'. Kay's hubby is in Darwin at present..and will be back before X-mas. Apparantly he's not enjoying himself after work hours...stating that all he has to read are articles about "Frogs in the Toilet" - which he say's is the journalistic quality he has to contend with in Darwin. Considering I just finished an excellent novel by my favourite Author, I feel sorry for him, for without books of quality...well he will be home soon anyway.

Sunday lunch time Mish and Steph (her 3.5 year old daughter) came over. Long trip for them, about 45 minutes drive, as they come from the Western Suburbs (near Williamstown). I was on the internet whilst hubby was cooking under my instruction...I was teaching him my recipe for Shepard's Pie (soon I will post it up for you). Lordy!!! its really difficult to chat and give cooking lessons at once (like priorities? hehehe). Despite this..lunch was delicious..and of course because I was 'cooking' so to speak, there were leftovers (Monday dinner). I had a good chat with Mish, whilst hubby played in the sandpit with Steph (he later said that he had a great time - with a huge grin on his face).

Sunday night we had dinner at hubby's mum's place. Bro-in-law (who is growing fuzz or a beard or whatever) and his girl were there for dinner too. She ( Heiffer) doesn't like me for some unknown reason..and this used to upset me, but no longer does. As this no longer disturbs me as it used to (ref link above), I had a nice time and despite all I enjoyed the company I was with. I think mum-in-law was also happy to have our company. Hubby's parents (both pharmacists) are endevouring to sell the business, which they have had for 40 years. The sale is still in the infancy stage, so I will keep you posted.

After dinner, we popped over to my pair-of-ants place, they were playing cards with friends. My mother has lost her voice, so she could barely speak to me..aha..the sound of silence (heehee). We didn't stay long..about 5 minutes, but that was enought to bring a smile to my parents face.

Hubby drove me up to Mt Dandenong (20 min from where we live - I love to drive or be driven to different sites), such a clear night...got out the binoculars and viewed the stars. Glorious night...glorious finish to a glorious weekend.

Watched a little of "In Bed with Madonna". Well that material girl is definitely a character! One thing I remember clearly, is the time she went to visit her mother's grave, she lay down next the grave and put her head on the headstone. That struck a chord in me. Then she was back to her usual flippy self. I turned tv off (2am). I had seen what I needed to see.

Monday...brake failure on car,,$156 to replace front brake pads with premium quality ones. Spilt water in the waiting room (whilst waiting for car to be fixed) and so I cleaned it up..I had a good chuckle. It happened as I eagerly picked up the newspaper to read, shifting another magazine out of place, it slid and knocked over my water (those flimsy foam cups!). No use crying over spilt water..so I laughed instead.

Monday night, I had first contact with 'cyber' friend. Only special friends get my phone number. Not sure, whether I should explore how I felt about it...but let's just say it was really hard to sleep last night..I felt like a teenager, I was so excited. Bouncing off the walls, scrape me off the ceiling type exhiliration.

So I'm still in Cloud 11, so now I think towards tonight...going to Jay's place...for another guitar lesson.

Signing off...
Soosh :-)
