The Pelican Acrylic on board

A commission from Jeannette Nixon to her husband Roger, ( an old flame of mine ), she gave it to him for his birthday, then made him pay for it.... way to go! The bird meant something sentimental to them but to me this bird set me flying. It encouraged me to start painting seriously, no-one was more amazed than I when this beautiful creature appeared on my canvas. It is the only one of my paintings that I do not still own but I know lives in a good home.

Nature Calls Acrylic on board

The handsome bug on the pool table is a native New Zealand Weta. They live in the bush and grow up to 10cms long. Now and then you may find one in your boots that you left lying at the back door, great if you are into adrenalin rushes. So, often they leave the safety of their natural environment and step into ours, hence the painting. There is a charged moment suspended in time. Will the Weta still be there when the player returns from the mens room to the table? "Nature calls" is the cry from all directions.

Up-set-up Acrylic on board

When the curtain opens and the last player has crawled below-stage will the props left behind be convincing enough to replace what was once real? In this scene the masked face of the final actor peers out with indecision, is there enough time to set back up the set up. Who is the audience?
