Skyline: Party balloons float up from behind the skyscrapers.

Plot: Niles has come home from the hospital after his heart surgery and is recovering well. His doctor has told him it is OK for him to resume normal activities, but Niles carries on with the diet he was on right after the operation and refuses to do anything active such as play squash or sleep with Daphne.

Niles is driving his family mad by this by saying how much he appreciates life after his near-death experience. Frasier is particularly annoyed by this - before the operation, he made a deal with God that if Niles survived, Frasier would never argue with him again. Continually having to agree with Niles, and putting up with Niles who keeps phoning into Frasier's show with his own advice, is driving Frasier nuts but he isn't sure if God will let him back out of the deal.

Frasier goes to the Montana to talk to Niles and finds Daphne is giving food to the poor. She too had made a promise with God - if Niles pulled through she would help the less fortunate. Since Daphne made her promise first, Frasier thinks he has a get-out clause.

Niles is at Frasier's waiting for his brother, and Martin has a talk with him. After Martin got shot, he was scared to resume normal life, but realised that the time you have left is special and shouldn't be wasted. Niles realises how silly he's been and rushes home to surprise his wife in bed. Unfortunately Gertrude is in their bed - but Niles realises that having seen her in bed, his heart can cope with anything and he resumes his normal life.

Subtitles: Weeks Later (And Ashley's Still In A Coma).

Trivia: This is the first episode directed by Jerry Zaks. Return of Gertrude Moon and the first guest caller for a few weeks. There is a mention of Daphne's brother Billy - and how he landed his boyfriend Kevin... The subtitle comes from the fact that Niles has started watching soaps (and comparing them to operas!). Eddie returns too - Niles pats him and says hello to him!
