Hello , I have decided it is time I introduced myself. My name is Anne and I was born in 1945 [ you can work out my age for yourself]. |
I found this photo a while a go its my grade two class, what a glamorous lot we were! Can you guess which is me? I do not have a beautiful bow in my hair, or Shirley Temple curls, only plain old plaits and a "sensible" jumper, [how I longed for bows and curls] I'm the las girl on the right in the second back row. |
My memories of school are not particularly happy. Classes were very large, and the teachers very strict. I remember in grade 1, I used to wear button shoes to school, one day the button hook was left at home and I could not manage to do up my shoes, so the lovely teacher locked me in the stationary cupboard while every one else went to dancing. That was supposed to teach me not to forget the hook, of course all it did was make me scared silly, of small spaces. |
This photo showing Jessika as a toddler was taken in front of the Font where I was Christened. Luci, Jessika, and my self went for a trip to see my home town - Burra. It was great fun visiting remembered places, and seeing them through adult eyes. |
Me at the tender age of 2 1/2. I think every one of my generation had at least one of these pictures taken. They were then framed and given to doting relatives for Christmas presents. I remember at my grandmothers house, every wall, shelf and table was crammed with little children, sitting, standing or lying on fluffy rugs. I wish now , someone had kept them all. I guess it is only as we get older that we really appreciate our family history. |

On 20th. December 1968, Bosco and I got Married. We had an honor guard of my Cub Scouts and all the children from my Kindergarten, it was not the quietest wedding ever held in the church but we all enjoyed our selves a great deal. After the service we all went back to my parents home for a great tea, there was so much food left over that the family decided to get together the next morning, before we went on our Honey moon, and eat the remains for breakfast. When we all arrived mum had to break the news to us that the ladies who had been hired to help out, had taken all the food with them when they left. There was only stale bread left!!! We didn"t mind but I think everyone else was pretty mad. Our honey moon was interesting to say the least,we were lent a house in Sydney which had been standing empty for a few weeks and had been invaded by sand fleas, ouch. Then on the third day there was a knock on the front door- our best man had come to have a holiday with us!! He and his wife are still our best friends even though we live in Australia and they live in Canada. |
