For the second year in a row, The Rafters Memorial Cup was being played for on July 10, and for the fourth year in a row it appeared that Mike was going to make a complete ass of himself.  On the first deal of the night, in the cold -20 degree climate of his own basement, Mike misdealt.  But in the end, after years of humiliation (crapping his pants in 1997), indecision (almost getting the Cup shoved down his throat for not sticking with his call of spades in 1996) and just flat out horrible play (being euchred twice, and then reneging, all in three straight hands in 1998), Mike won his first Cup in record fashion.  Records tied or set by Mike in 1999 were: 5 wins(t), 1 loss(t), 58 pts for, and Mike also extended his record winning streak to 6 games before losing in game 6.  The only other record set in 1999 was by Andrew for most points against.  The 62 points put up against him was by far the most ever.  Before the new play it out rule went into effect in 1998, the most points that could be scored, for or against, was 60 (an average of 10 per game).  Going from first to worst, Andrew had an amazing average of 10.3 points scored against him per game this year, truly the worst performance in the history of the Rafters Memorial Cup.  The tournament saw 103 total points scored, the most ever.  The high scoring lead to three of the top five best individual win/loss records of all-time.
