The 3rd Annual Rafters Memorial Cup started with Andrew and Paul becoming the first team to score more than 10 points in a game.  They scored 11 thanks to the new "play it out" rule.  After three games, Eric was 0-3 while everyone else sat at 2-1.  Then, in game four, came the biggest choke in Rafters Cup history (so far).  Mike and Eric were up 5-2, and if Mike Could have held on to this game he would have been in firm control of first place.  Fortunately for Andrew, Mike completely fell apart.  After being euchred twice, Mike reneged, all but pissing a championship down his leg.  In game five, Andrew and Eric routed Paul and Mike 10-3, marking the second time Andrew held his opponents to 3 points.  Only once prior to 1998 had anyone held their opponent to less than 4.  Andrew had a ten point lead over Paul going into game six, if Paul could have won by 11 he would have won his third straight championship, but Andrew was just too strong!  Andrew and Mike did fall behind in the sixth game 5-4, at which point Eric called diamonds and lead the 9 of clubs.  Andrew dealt, and when it got around to him, the future champ laid down the ace of clubs, and both red jacks to take two points and the lead for good.  Andrew's 57 points for and 34 against were all-time tourney bests, while Eric's 37 points for was the lowest ever.
