While working at the C.D.O.T.
I had the pleasure of driving the supply truck form Durango to Denver,
Colorado twice a month in the beginning then once a month later for about
10 years... I took a lot of pictures in all four seasons. I have seen it
all from blzzards to tornados...
Sharing a few of these photos is my pleasure.... Taken on Wolfcreek pass about 12 miles east of Pagosa Spings Co. |

The photo on the right was taken about 5 miles outside of Silverton Co., Talk about Purple Mountains Majesty, this is it... The low resolution of this photo on the www does not do it justice....
Another view of the same area as above showing the snowcaped mountains... I call it 'Scenic Overkill' because every curve to go around it just keeps on getting better.... I love this country and plan on spending the rest of my life here... Can you blame me!!!!
This is the famous 'Red Mountain Pass' located between Silverton and Ouray Co. In the winter it is probably the most dangerous avalanche prone areas in the U.S.A., But in the summer it is also one of the most beautiful.... What do you think?
This is Silverton Co. an old
mining town that hasn't changed much in a hundred years... This is the
end of the line for the Durango & Silverton train..
Tourists come here from all over the world to catch a glimps of it.... The people here are just about the most friendliest in the world... They have to be, for if it weren't for the tourists this town would be a ghost town..... If you come visit southwest Colorado, you must visit Silverton for it surly will take you back in time..... |
