Tourists shocked as grizzly shot in Yukon
Nancy Durrant and her brother had come from southern Ontario, but not to see a grizzly killed before their eyes.  Driving through Tombstone Park along the Dempster Highway north of Dawson City, they saw the bear and grabbed their video camera.  Durrant was horrified at what happened next, because "you don't expect to see something shot," especially  in a park.  "You want to think that the northern areas are trying to protect their wildlife," she said. (Hey! How often do you get a video of a someone ' taking down a Grizzly Bear.. I hope someone told this poor, offended little yuppy, that she's not in Toronto anymore. Just because you can't hunt the more vicious type of animal walking down Yonge Street, don't expect the rest of the world to conform to 'your'  unrealistic standards.. Besides, parks & Hunters DO protect 'endangered' animals, what has she done lately for wildlife conservation besides "being offended" by a perfectly legal action that she doesn't agree with.. Perhaps now she will do everyone a favour,  and stay in Toronto where I'm sure no one will offend her! )

And, thanks to the Canadian Government YOU are the easy pickings their looking for. And it's ALWAYS reassuring to know that Canadian Police are not even legally required to show up when you call 911. I have never, ever, met anyone, man or woman, that has put down the 357 magnum, and walked away from the target full of holes 'without' a HUGE smile on their face. It many cases it was the first time in their entire life they ever felt 'truly' empowered. THAT'S why you never hear the term "Armed Victim".. Any criminal worth his salt is also worth 180 gr. of  lead if your lifes in danger.. Think about it!)

Canada placed seventh in the 102-nation survey conducted byBerlin-based Transparency International, a non-government agency that has been monitoring perceived levels of corruption since 1993.(The 'key'word here is "Nation" NOT Government. It's not likely our government would fair well, if the poll had focused on the "least corrupt 'elected' government" We've never had a government as corrupt as this one, and their just 'starting' to scratch the patronage surface. Shooting victim hailed as a hero
A man who stood between a female attendant at a downtown massage parlour and a customer armed with a gun — saving her life but losing his own — is being called a hero. Kyriacou said the man was taken to a back room after requesting a massage. When he was asked to pay in advance, he said, the man pulled a gun and pointed it at the attendant.  The woman screamed and Vu, who was in another part of the studio, rushed  to her aid. He was shot in the stomach and upper body after struggling briefly with the gunman, and died more than three hours later in hospital.(Another unarmed DEAD hero shot by a CRIMINAL, NOT a duck hunter.. "We don't know how long he was there, but that concerns us," Andrews said. "There's no monetary reason for him to be in a child's room."(Sure the police finally got the guy, but NOT during any of his robberies. WHY THE SPRING BEAR HUNT MUST BE REINSTATED (ofah)
According to M.N.R. information, at least 10,000 cubs die every year for reasons that have nothing to do with hunting. (Starvation and cannibalism are the largest sources of cub mortality.) The best estimate of cubs accidentally orphaned by hunters (it was illegal for hunters to kill sows with cubs) published by an M.N.R. bear biologist, was less than 27 per year. But as a direct result of the cancellation of the spring bear hunt, up to 2,500 more cubs are dying each year. In other words, in a purported effort to save about 25 cubs from accidental hunter error, the government’s cancellation of the hunt has directly caused up to one hundred times more cubs than that to die each year. NDP leader Howard Hampton, who represents the northwestern Ontario riding of Kenora-Rainy River, said the  animals are so numerous these days his children play "count the bear's" on driving trips through his riding.(Even walking in the woods has become an 'adventure' in Ontario. But it's not likely any of the city dwellers responsible for this biological catastrophe would understand this.. After all, Disney says they're 'almost' human, and Winnie is loved by little children all over the world! What possible danger could they be? I guess their just waiting for a bear to choke to death on a child's leg bone in Toronto's High Park before they admit roaming bears are becoming a dangerous nuisance..)

Keeping that in mind, I would also imagine the number of defenceless women killed by their attackers would be up.  After all, the U.K. Government has made it illegal for them to even put their attackers in 'fear'.. They followed the loud beeps to a house in the community, knocked on the door, and found a man who admitted he had shot the bird on a hunting trip on another island a few weeks earlier. Kerry was in the hunter's freezer, still fitted with his transmitter, which researchers were keen to recover.(I can remember a poacher(thief) who shot a collared deer, and the game wardens found the collar in the garage, and the deer in the freezer.. what a dumbass.. Woman arrested carrying .357 Magnum on flight
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A woman was in FBI custody Sunday after allegedly carrying a handgun on a US Airways flight from Atlanta to Philadelphia, authorities said. Airport security stopped the woman at Philadelphia International Airport on her  way to a connecting flight and found she was carrying a .357 Magnum handgun in her carry-on suitcase, Philadelphia police spokeswoman Officer Maria Ibrahim said.(Well security seems to be 'almost' working in the & U.S. (The feds ARE stripping the little guns off G.I.Joe dolls) Doesn't make you feel so safe, that American pilots are armed with pepper spray and/or stun guns and Canadian pilots are armed with the Liberal equivalent.. Nothing ... while passengers and terrorists can still get on board with a .357 Magnum.. Makes ya wanna go right out and get on a plane doesn't it?)
Liberals 'now' admit 8 Million Guns - There are actually 16Million+
The government survey wanted to find out how many guns are in the hands of the public. It found that there are around 8 million firearms in Canada, nearly a million more than originally thought. Per capita, the Northwest Territories has the most guns at about one per person. It's followed by Saskatchewan where two out of every five people have guns. In Alberta the rate is one in four, or about the same as the national average.The government's method of controlling guns is by keeping close tabs on them. Every gun owner in Canada has until Dec. 31, 2002 to register their firearms. So far only two-thirds of them have.(Wait a minute!!! If the NATIONAL AVERAGE is 1 in 4 or 25% of Canadians own guns, then according to our population of 30,000,000 people, 7.5 million own guns. The government also says there are only 8 million guns owned by 2.5 million 'licensed' gun owners. Which means that each owner owns 3.2 guns. Now, either the population of Canada has dropped to 10,000,000 people, or Canada has 'according to wildly fluctuating numbers supplied by political spin doctors' 7.5 million gun owners x 3.2 guns each, = 24 Million guns... Government figures are so blatantly false and dishonest, how can they expect ANY Canadian to respect this absurd law. They should consider themselves lucky that 2/3 of the false low number of gun owners they will admit to, have registered 'anything' to date. The vast majority are just going to sit back and wait for this deceitful government to disintegrate from with-in, and rejoice when this absurd farce, currently Nine hundred million dollars over budget, is finally repealed)
Canadian pilots mull allowing guns in cockpit
It will be a very emotional discussion ...," said ACPA president Don Johnson. "There are people on the executive who think that pilots should be armed." Mr. Johnson said he is personally opposed to the idea of allowing pilots to have guns in the cockpit, but he wants to give Air Canada's 3,400 mainline pilots a chance to express their views. A second union, the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), wants to arm pilots, but says it is not currently pursuing the idea with Canadian legislators.(It's really not up to the 'pilots' to allow guns in the cockpit! The Liberals have a un-healthy phobia against firearms of anykind.  As long as The Liberal Government is willing to shoot down a fully loaded passenger jet into a populated area, there should be NO limits or restrictions on the way a flight crew can defend their aircraft, and that includes shooting the hijackers. Only a Liberal, would think that a person who has the responsibility for the lives of hundreds of  passengers on board a multimillion dollar aircraft is too stupid to be trusted with a firearm, and shooting down the plane is better idea!)
Attacks prompt B.C. to consider predator culls
Vancouver Island residents could see an increase in cougar and wolf attacks on pets, livestock and possibly humans if the animal populations aren't brought under control, a provincial wildlife specialist warns. On Thursday, Ontario New Democratic Party Leader Howard Hampton called on the province to give northern and rural municipalities the $1.8-million it's earned from a bear hunt organized  to control nuisance animals. While he refused to wade into the debate over the government's cancellation of the spring bear hunt, Mr. Hampton said bears are  "everywhere" in northern and central Ontario.(Ontario has 'lucked out' so far. Since the 'political' decision to ban the spring bear hunt here, bears have been seen following children, killing cattle, and prowling suburban neighbourhoods built in areas that have not seen bears for fifty to a hundred years.. )

"A Laughingly Bogus" Study Is 'AGAIN' Released By the Liberals On The Number Of Firearms In Canada
Ottawa, August 20, 2002 – There are approximately 7.9 million firearms in Canada, according to a comprehensive study released today. This study provides an updated estimate on the number of firearms in Canada. This objective and independent data will be particularly valuable to the Canadian Firearms Program in monitoring progress as the January 1, 2003 deadline for firearms owners to register all of their firearms approaches.(Again, paying no attention to history, combined with previous import/export records. The 'brain deads' at the CFC have only issued a couple of million POL/PAL's and have polled some of these people, and decided that they should inflate their politically motivated figures by a 'bit' any way.. As of June 19, 2002, the government has registered  4,083,358 firearms, including the restricted ones that had been registered under the old system, which 'clearly' shows that even according to their figures, 3 million, eight hundred and sixteen thousand, six hundred and forty two guns remain unregistered. With  only 87 'working' days left in the year, and if they don't take a longer Christmas break, they will have to register 43,869 guns per day just to get to the 7.9 million they say are out there. There are actually closer to twenty million, but the government won't admit this publicly because it would make the registry look like a waste of money...Duh!!!)

Hunter kills 2 grizzly bears in B.C. attack
The grizzlies, each weighing about 200 kilograms, stormed out of the woods, one after the other. They thundered toward Mr. Engel, who was warned of their approach by screams over a radio from the other men in the party. "I didn't get fancy with the bear," he said. "I turned around, popped the safety off and I just went for the biggest moving part I could see,  which was all bear." (Bears can be damn weird! We had a member of our deer hunting party that was forced to shoot a black bear because the damn thing kept approaching him even after a warning shot.. Sometimes simply a loud noise will not scare them away.. At any rate, I would much rather face a black bear than a Grizzly any day! I have always joked that any bear chasing me, would be at a definite disadvantage because it would have a foot of shit to run through first..)

Black bear kills baby girl at N.Y. state cottage 
FALLSBURG, N.Y. - A five-month-old girl was killed Monday after a black bear dragged her into the woods in upstate New York.  Esther Schwimmer was in her stroller near the porch of a vacation home in the Catskill Mountains when the bear approached. The baby's mother rushed her two- and four-year-old into the cottage, and returned to see the empty stroller. New York state conservation officers shot and killed the black bear. Tests concluded the animal was not rabid.  The state's top wildlife official said it's the first time he remembers a black bear killing a human. (Obviously not a Canadian wildlife official! In the last 25 years, there have been 5 cases of bears killing and eating humans in Ontario's Algonquin Park. I spend a great deal of time in Algonquin each summer, and because of the 'increased' number of bears due to the 'political' decision of banning the Ontario spring bear hunt, and the ban on carrying firearms in the park, I now carry a 8mm semiautomatic BLANK pistol. The 8mm starter pistol makes a VERY load noise, and would be sufficient at least of making a bear think twice. The blank pistol IS NOT a firearm under the law, because it was designed to fire ONLY blanks, and is used ONLY for that purpose. However, while making a very effective 'bear banger', it would 'still' be stupid in Canada to stick it in a holster and walk down the street.)

Welcome to Big Lie Country
Call it spin, strategic misinformation or simply political snake oil, but members of the Liberal caucus will spend the next three days here trying to convince themselves and anyone distracted from the pleasures of summer that black is white, up is down. For Prime Minister Jean Chrétien that means clinging to the twisted notion that a small band of renegades is trying to  break his grip on the personal mandate given to him by Canadians two years ago and now re-endorsed by loving, loyal Liberals. In contrast to U.S. presidents, Canadian prime ministers serve at their party's pleasure, at best enjoying an implied personal mandate. Chrétien's legitimacy is made even more tenuous by polls suggesting Canadians believe his exit is long overdue, and most voted Liberal in the last election in the absence of a credible alternative, not in a fit of passion for a Prime Minister whose popularity was  fading.(What else is new, they've been trying to convince Canadians with all their lies for 10 years! A fine point of example! If he thinks 'Canadians' (meaning all of Canada) gave him a mandate at all, he's just whipping up a new pot of snake oil and truly trying to convince himself the black is white!. Since when does his home riding (the ONLY place his name was on a ballot) represent the whole of Canada?  I hope he stays.. the poll below, ended up as 72% of Canadians would not vote liberal in the next election.)

Though the city keeps no statistics on the number of women  here who own guns, anecdotal evidence strongly suggests that they are arming themselves like never before - taking classes at shooting ranges, organizing weapons seminars and  applying for permits to carry pistols and rifles.  Interviews with advocates, consultants and licensing officers reveal a remarkable rise in female firepower, as much as a 30 percent increase over last year.  A mix of motivations has sparked the trend, but many of those at the trigger cite a need to feel safe and empowered following Sept. 11, even if they fully realized that having a  pistol in their purse can be highly dangerous to themselves and won't prevent another attack on New York. (The ONLY time a gun would be "Highly dangerous to themselves", is if they are not prepared to use it! If they feel the well-being of their attacker is more valuable than the well-being of themselves or their children, and are not prepared to shoot someone to save a life, then the left-winger who wrote this story is right. She should not carry a gun, because the criminal will probably disarm her before raping or killing her and her children.. Most women are not this stupid. Most armed women would not hesitate to blow away someone who is threatening their children. But remember, as a Canadian woman, you have the right to kill any 200 lb attacker, providing you use your bare hands. Our government says you can't be trusted with a gun. Why? I don't know why! You voted for them, you tell me! )

OTTAWA -- A large majority of Canadians think Jean Chrétien is hanging on as Prime Minister strictly for the sake of clinging to power, and four out of five say he should be replaced, a new poll suggests. Irate wife ratted out gun collector
They do not believe the owner was involved in any criminal activity, but are considering laying charges of unsafe storage and possession of prohibited weapons, RCMP spokesman Const. Peter Marshall said yesterday. Police were mostly concerned that someone could have heard about the collection and broken into the garage. “What if they had gotten into the wrong hands? You have submachine-guns that appear to be in working order,” Marshall said. The collection, which included a Second World War British Sten submachine-gun, a German MP-40 submachine-gun and pearl-handled and nickel-plated pistols, would be worth a mint to an avid collector. “Some of the guns appear to be in very, very good condition, and therefore  are worth a lot of money,” Marshall said. “It was a nice collection, but he just didn’t store it properly.”  The owner said he’s had the weapons for years and wanted to get rid of them,  but he had a hard time selling them, according to media reports. Police are not sure if the guns will be returned to their owner. They are trying to determine which weapons, if any, are prohibited.(And I'm sure he will have all kinds of offers for his property know, and the cops 'should' allow him to sell them off, or arrange to legally keep them.. After all, they 'did' say he was not a criminal, and the courts are generally ignoring the stupid penalties of the firearms act for real criminals so why not ignore them for honest people too. In most cases prosecution is a waste of  the officers time)

On April 16, 2002, RCMP Cst. Steve Poirier, Course Coordinator of the RCMP Pacific Region Training Centre told his superiors that they do not have the manpower to enforce the Firearms Act.  He said: “There are approx 49,000 registered firearms in B.C. belonging to people who have not applied for the new firearms licence. I inform police of this statistic however also advise no police force has the manpower to deal with it.”(And thats just in B.C. Multiply that figure by 10, and get the picture for the rest of canada)
