West Coast Trail in Pacific Rim National Park
British Columbia, Canada
The West Coast Trail is 74 kilometers long.  It is best done in a minimum of 5 or 6 days 'tho it has been done much quicker. We took 8 days. It is not for the beginner as it is demanding and can be dangerous in good weather let alone bad weather.  Still the beach camping offers some beautiful views and pleasant moments of contemplation and relaxation after a day hiking.  The trail is popular around the world and reservations are advised.  But it is possible to arrive without them and be on the trail within a couple of days.
We land at Bamfield and hitch a ride up to the Pachena Bay Campground where we meet Al.  This is the beach on Pachena Bay.  A beautiful way to start the adventure.  The panorama picture and all the other beautiful panorama pictures were taken by Al Stewart, third member of our hiking party.
Patrice and I leave the car in Port Alberni and start our adventure on the MV Lady Rose down some channels to Bamfield.  It is a marvellous trip even with the scalped look of clear cut mountains.
A very nice place to stop for a bit of walking.  On the return trip we had a chance to do just that.  I was fortunate to meet and talk with a sculptor for some time.  She gave me some background on some of her works. And we talked about the creative process.  It was fun.
