“Nope.” Alicia confirmed “They’re telling the truth.” Lee whined “Why us? Why today?” The twins chorused mournfully “Why ever?” Katerina said flatly. “ I think we better leave early for it. If what Carlton says is true, we don’t want to turn up late.” Fred and George caught her eye and the three of them giggled. “What?” Sarah stopped midmouthful and looked at the twins to Katerina back to the twins again “Nothing.” Fred said airily, “Shall we go?” Katie glowered at him. The Gryffindors stood up from the table and headed for the door. It took them over forty five minutes to find their potions lesson and even though they had left the great hall early they were still late and Professor Snape was in a foul mood. “Why are you late?” he snapped and before they could answer him he spoke again. “Ten points each from Gryffindor.” Their mouths fell open. “You can’t be serious? This is our first lesson we even left breakfast early to get here on time!” “Silence you stupid girl! This is my class and I make the rules inside this room so sit down before I take even more points from Gryffindor!” The whole classroom shook. Katerina’s body tensed with anger. She stared unblinking at Snape. “I said sit down.” His voice was softer but by no means less menacing. The twins and Lee narrowed their eyes at Snape as Katerina sat down between Lee and Fred. “So since you have so much to say this morning Miss Silvermoore perhaps you could read page 327 aloud to the class.” Katerina glared at him and bit her lip. “Well what are you waiting for? Or has the Kat got your tongue?” The Slytherins roared with laughter and Snape chuckled at his own joke. Fred and George leapt to their feet and began yelling at Snape. What exactly they were saying could only be heard by Katerina and Lee. Snape turned his cold eyes upon the twins “Detention for the three of you and fifty points from Gryffindor.” The Gryffindors in the room exploded, their screaming protests filled the dungeons. “SIT DOWN AT ONCE OR I SHALL HAVE YOU ALL IN DETENTION and even more house points will be taken from Gryffindor and it is only the first lesson of term.” The reluctant Gryffindors sat down in silence, but all stared and glowered at Snape with an intense hatred. “We’ll get him back.” Lee tried to cheer Katerina up. “He can count on it.” There was a look of grim determination on the triplets’ faces. The whole of the Gryffindor first years were outraged with Snape and bitterly complained about his unfair treatment of all the Gryffindors but especially the twins and Katerina, who were now being referred to as the triplets. Slytherins stood sniggering in groups as Lee and the triplets passed. Their next lesson didn’t improve the young Gryffindors moods. The history of magic lesson was one of the most eagerly anticipated lessons on the Gryffindors timetable because it was the only lesson to be taught by a ghost. However after five minutes of their first lesson, all the Gryffindors had changed their minds about this lesson. Professor Binns droned on about goblin revolts. Whilst trying to stay awake they scribbled down names like Uric the Oddball and Emeric the Evil. Even the twins didn’t have the energy to make jokes in the lesson. Katerina was still brooding over, in her opinion, Snape’s audacity to insult her and to throw herself and the twins in detention during their first lesson. She was so preoccupied with this that she paid no attention to anything in the lesson, even when professor Binns asked her several questions. Fred elbowed her. “Ouch.” She rubbed her ribs. “Miss Silvermoore, maybe you would be kind enough to answer my question?” “Question? Umm… Yellow?” All the Gryffindors laughed. “Miss Silvermoore, the answer you gave was indeed correct but it would be more beneficial for you to pay attention in my lessons.” He floated away from her. “Fred, What was the question?” “Does it matter? You made a fool out of old Binns.” “Wish it had been Snape.” She muttered. At the end of History of Magic, Katerina stormed into the grounds to plot her revenge. “At least she isn’t still upset like yesterday.” Fred quipped to George and Lee. “Somehow, I think this is all just adding to it.” Lee muttered. “Do you think it has anything to do with Ajuna and Caldaria?” George was speaking to Fred leaving Lee looking confused. “Who are Ajuna and Caldaria?” “ They were Kat’s triplet sisters.” “So she was part of a triplet set?” “Yeah until You-Know-Who went and killed them and her parents. Godrinch is the only blood family she has left. So she came to live with us.” “Mum’s trying to adopt her so she’ll have a family again, but she’s already our sister really so it doesn’t matter.” “I think she’s trying to do it more for Kat’s benefit then anything else. Kat gets very touchy whenever her family is mentioned.” “Wow. No wonder.” “Look Lee, whatever you do don’t pity her.” “She can’t stand it and she won’t speak to any of us if you do. Promise you won’t pity her?” “Yeah alright, but I think we better follow her, before any Slytherins end up in lakes or in the form of trees.” “You think she can do that?” “Fred, She can conjure roses to fall from the ceiling, transport you back to the edge of the lake and drench you, then dry you. You really think throwing Slytherins in a lake posses a problem to her?” “Good point, George.” The three of them raced off after Kat across the lawns. “Do you have to walk this fast?” Lee panted when they finally caught up with her. “Yes. It is my non-violent way of releasing my anger.” Fred and George grinned at one another as they fell into step with her. She suddenly stopped staring at the sky in front of her. |
