| Hogwarts; Before Harry “Get up, we’re going to be late.” Molly Weasley’s deafening tones filtered up the Burrows staircase and awakened the sleeping children. Fred moaned and rolled over and so did George. That is until Katerina fell from her hammock and landed on top of George. “Kat, we have to get you a hammock you can’t fall out of.” “Or I could switch beds with you, Fred.” “Like I said we have to get you a hammock you can’t fall out of.” The three burst out laughing. “Are you three up yet? It’s your first day at Hogwarts and you’re going to be late!” There was a sudden scrambling for clothes and last minute provisions. Katerina grabbed a handful of wet start fireworks, Fred picked up the last dungbombs and George snatched up the checklist they had made the night before. “Right lets see. Dungbombs?” “Check.” “Fireworks?” “Double check.” “Telescope?” “Check.” “Broomsticks?” “Check, Check and Check.” “Will the three of you stop messing about and get down here this instant. Godrinch will be here soon, so get your skates on.” “I didn’t think it was icy today.” “You know what I meant young lady and I want you ready for when your brother arrives.” A resounding groan echoed through the Burrow. “Why does he have to come?” Before either of the twins could reply, the bedroom door creaked open. There was a flurry of movement. The slamming of the three chests and hands being thrown behind backs as Percy Weasley entered the room. Three angelic faces greeted him, which prompted Percy to shut the door and race down to fetch his mother. “Great!” the twins sighed heavily whilst Katerina delved into her trunk. “What are you doing?” Fred and George leaned over her as she rooted and pulled out her wand with a flourish and a fifth year textbook. Fred and George grinned at each other. “Percy should really learn to hide things better. I found it in his room, although I’m sure he’s not meant to have it.” Katerina had a sly expression on her face. “Blackmail.” The twins said in unison. “Not only that but, there is an invisibility spell in here which will help us to hide all this from your mum.” Katerina began flicking through the book as footsteps began to sound on the staircase. “Hurry up, come on.” The twins urged her on. The footsteps grew louder. “Oh here it is Cognoscere!” the broomsticks and other objects vanished as the door opened and Molly Weasley entered. “Get down stairs in the next five minutes or you’ll go without breakfast. Oh and your brother’s here, Katerina” The door slammed behind her. “Phew that was close.” “Now we better hurry or we’ll be late and we’ll miss breakfast.” “Do you ever think of anything but your stomach, girl?” “Shut up Fred.” A half hour later, four trunks, Katerina’s owl, Fazila were packed into the boot of the Weasley’s Ford Anglia along with the seven Weasley’s, Godrinch and Katerina. They arrived at Kings Cross Station at quarter to eleven. “See mum, we’re here in plenty of time.” “George, we should have been here at at least half past ten. You children really have no idea…” “Now Molly dearest, I’m sure there all very worried about their first day at a new school. So be a little patient with them, please.” Arthur Weasley touched his wife’s arm to placate her. “Now all three of you should be on your best behaviour during your time at Hogwarts, you all have to uphold your family honour, Katerina stop that, this is precisely what you should not be doing.” Fred and George doubled over with laughter at Katerina mouthing her brother’s words. Godrinch went red in the face and stormed off to find some trolleys for the four trunks. “That was very immature of all of you. Godrinch was trying to give you some good advice and you threw it back in his face.” Percy chided them and went off in the direction Godrinch had. The three of them laughed harder. At five to eleven the tribe reached platforms nine and ten. “Percy, you go first.” The three new students watched Percy disappear through the barrier between platforms nine and ten. “Right Katerina, Fred, George off you go and we’ll see you on the platform.” The three checked each other as they ran at the barrier. They passed through and found themselves on a bustling platform with a huge red train entitled “The Hogwarts Express.” Behind them Molly, Arthur, Ron and Ginny Weasley appeared with Godrinch looking as stern as ever. “Right now go store your luggage, quickly or you’ll miss the train.” Molly hustled them towards the nearest open door. It didn’t take long for the three of them to store Fazila and their three trunks in racks in an empty compartment. They exited the train to bid farewell to their families. “Now Katerina, I don’t want you to do anything that will embarrass me whilst you are at Hogwarts. Do you understand me?” “Yes. I promise on my Girl Guide honour.” Godrinch smiled warmly and hugged his sister before she was swept up into the arms of Molly. Yeah like I was a Girl Guide she thought. “Oh do take care, Hogwarts can be a dangerous place, come home in one piece.” The whistle on the train blew and Fred and George pulled Katerina through the door. Ron and Ginny waved at their older brothers as the train sped from the platform. Molly sobbed and waved. Godrinch waved briefly before departing from the platform. The three returned to the compartment with their luggage in. They collapsed into the seats. Fred pulled out a pack of cards and challenged George to a game of exploding snap whilst Katerina stared out of the window. Their compartment door slid open and a boy of the same age entered. “Hi. Do you mind if I sit in here? I just got kicked out of my seat.” “Come on in, SNAP!” An explosion followed leaving the twins in a fit of giggles. They looked up and saw a boy with dreadlocks who was already in his Hogwarts robes sitting down by Katerina. “By the way, I’m Lee Jordan.” Katerina glanced up and nodded in Lee’s direction. Fred and George exchanged a sceptical glance, before leaping to their feet to greet Lee. 10 minutes later when the lady with the trolley arrived, Katerina was observing Lee, Fred and George playing wizards chest. Lee was being beaten badly by the cheating duo. Katerina sighed and bought snacks for all. The train journey passed quite quickly, kids ran up and down the corridors screaming. One boy ran past in his robes brandishing something over his head and being hotly pursued by a girl in jeans and a flowered t-shirt. The train began to slow as the countryside around them changed. The weather had become worse. The sun wasn’t shining now and instead the wind howled down the sides of the train and rain spattered the windows. A voice echoed through out the train |
