“Wow. Thanks, that’s saved me a few galleons.” “’I’ll see you later” She muttered as she walked away again. “Kat.” “What?” “Why aren’t you in your lesson?” “Could ask you the same thing” “Professor McGonagall cancelled it. Why aren’t you?” “Does it matter?” “Yes because you’re obviously upset about something, which is why you’re out here instead of in school.” “If you knew, why did you ask?” “Please tell me what’s wrong.” Oliver pleaded with her “Its none of your business, or anyone else’s, why can’t any of you just leave me alone?” She snapped at him. “What are you talking about?” “Oh come on, don’t pretend that McGonagall didn’t tell you either.” “What are you talking about?” “Oh McGonagall didn’t tell you, You-know-Who killed my parents and triplet sisters in front of me and my brother?” Tears were rolling down her cheeks again. Oliver looked taken a back for a moment. “No.” He said softly. He walked over and put his arm around her shoulders. “Do you want to talk about it?” Katerina shook her head. “Come on, don’t cry.” He pulled her into his chest and hugged her. “It’s alright.” He cooed. Katerina leant against him. She was shaking. “You’re freezing, come on lets go inside.” He put his arm around her waist and picking up the broomsticks in his free hand, led Katerina toward the Quidditch changing rooms. The clock in the common room struck 5 o’clock. Fred, George, Lee, Ellie and Carlton sat starring into the flames of the common room fire. They had searched the whole school and found no trace of her. At the start of their search Fred and George had jokingly concluded that the Slytherins had kidnapped her, but now sitting in front of the fire it seemed more and more likely to the whole group that she had. Ellie was looking very pale. Her eyes were unblinking as she stared at the flames. The portrait door swung open and McGonagall stormed into the common room. The five around the fire had all looked up when she had entered but now went back to staring at the fire. McGonagall strode straight up to the twins and bellowed down their ears, “Where is Miss Silvermoore? She was supposed to be in my room five minutes ago, but failed to appear.” She looked murderous and all five turned mournful eyes on her. “She disappeared.” George whispered. “Just after your lesson” Ellie murmured “She heard you had told us about her family and well,” Carlton’s voice had lost its edge “She was very upset, she ran off into the grounds.” Lee’s voice was squeaky. “I tried to chase after her, but I lost track of her. Then she didn’t turn up to any of the lessons this afternoon and she missed lunch and diner.” Fred moaned. McGonagall looked taken a back by this news. “Have you looked for her?” “Yes but she’s vanished. We searched the whole school but couldn’t find her.” Carlton felt a knot of guilt and fear tighten in his stomach as he spoke. “Oh dear. I will fetch Professor Dumbledore at once.” “No need Professor McGonagall, I am here. Miss Ferris took it upon herself to seek out my help. I must say this is a slight problem, but I feel Miss Silvermoore is perfectly safe, although it is suggestible that we do indeed find he before it gets too cold for her to wander the grounds.” “What do you remember about them?” Oliver sat on one of the benches in the quidditch changing room. Katerina was sat next to him, her head resting on his shoulder and his arm around hers. “That we were always happy. Mum and Dad used to work alternate days at the ministry so that one of them was always home with us and if they couldn’t get time off work we went to the Weasley’s. We always got on well as well, I mean as triplets, but they showed signs of magic at that early age, I didn’t, mum thought maybe I was a squib, but she didn’t seem to care. I think that’s why Godrinch and me survived. He’s ambitious and won’t let anything stand in his way and I showed little magical prowess, so seemed the smallest threat to him at the time. Though I hardly pose a threat at the moment either.” She sighed heavily. “So you don’t have any family, besides Godrinch?” “I have a muggle Grandfather on my father’s side but he has a weak heart, a Grandmother and auntie who are studying the Yeti in the isolated mountains, both on my father’s side and an uncle on my mother’s side who has disappeared, I never met him, I don’t even know his name, let alone my mother’s maiden name, so I don’t suppose I will ever meet him. That’s why the ministry won’t let Molly and Arthur adopt me, I still have live blood relatives who would be willing to take care of me.” “That’s why you hate Slytherins so much, isn’t it? I mean we all hate Slytherins but you despise them. You hate them because You-Know-Who killed your family. You want revenge for your family’s deaths and you’re starting with the Slytherins.” “No, it’s just that they remind me of all the reasons my family was killed and it just gets to me, I’ve never really had to face this properly and its more than a little over-whelming.” “It’s ok.” He squeezed her shoulders gently “I’m here and I’ll help you face it. The Slytherins don’t scare me and I’ll stand by you.” Katerina smiled and kissed his cheek. “Thanks.” She whispered as she settled her head back onto his shoulder. Oliver blushed, but Katerina pretended not to notice. A comfortable silence fell between the two of them, but the creaking of the changing room’s door and Fred’s shrill tones shortly broke it, “I’ve found her! She’s in the quidditch changing room with Oliver!” Outside the two could here the pounding of feet upon the stone floors and a sudden eruption of people poured into the room. Oliver and Katerina leapt to their feet, where Katerina was seized by Fred and George and hugged very tightly between the two of them. Eva shot a smug look at Oliver who refused to meet her eye. “Miss Silvermoore, if it is not too much trouble, I would like to request that you come to my office when you are finished here.” Professor Dumbledore turned and left the room. “I think it best that we begin your animagi lessons tomorrow, Miss Silvermoore.” McGonagall sounded condescending as she turned and left. “She may not seem it, but she’s glad you’re safe. She was as pale as a sheet when we told her you were missing.” Ellie grinned, the colour now returning to her face. “You weren’t exactly calm about her disappearance.” Lee reminded her teasingly causing Ellie to blush. Katerina smiled and finally pulled away from Fred and George. “I’m sorry I was a little up tight about my family and I really didn’t mean to worry all of you.” "It’s alright, we forgive you.” George grinned “Good. Now does anybody know where Dumbledore’s office is?” She looked meaningfully at Oliver who took the hint. “Yeh, I’ll show you.” As the two left Katerina slipped her arm around Oliver’s, who glanced down and grinned at her. “Awwwwwww!” Eva and Ellie squealed when Oliver and Katerina had left. Fred pretended to wretch causing George, Lee and Carlton to laugh uncontrollably. But they were all soon silenced by the women’s stony glare. Carlton gulped and nervously grinned at Eva. She folded her arms and starred stolidly back at him. “Well, if that’s how you feel then why do want a girlfriend? Maybe we should break up.” “No, I didn’t mean it we were just joking around right?” Carlton looked to Fred, George and Lee for help, who all nodded reverently. Eva and Ellie now started to laugh. Carlton looked peeved but Eva took his arm and soothed him as they left for the Gryffindor common room, leaving Ellie to talk to the twins and Lee. |
