Melanie B scary spice favourite |
![]() |
Easily my favourite Spice Girl Melanie B released a solo album in 2000 titled "HOT" that had a CD cover to match! Melanie was the first to go solo in 1998 with a Missy Elliot collaboration called "I Want You Back". It reached top spot on the UK charts making it the first number one Solo Spice song. Melanie B's voice is one of the voices you hear yelling "I'll tell you what I want what I really really want!" in the classic Spice Girl song "Wannabe" (the other being Geri Halliwell's). My favourite of the Spice voices, it can be best described as breathy, throaty, and definitely sexy with a touch of vulnerability in there as well. Melanie released an autobiography called "Catch a Fire" in which she discusses her attempt at suicide as a teen and her volatile friendship with Geri Halliwell. TV credits include her playing hostess for a successful "Star Search" type show called "This is My Moment" (pre POP IDOL!). She also was involved in a documentary about voodo religions in Africa; she received good reviews for her performance in a short film titled "Fish" where she played a single mother working in a fish factory. She also received rave reviews for her duration with The Vagina Monologues in London. Most recently she appeard in a show called "Burn It" as Claire. The show originally had her written for 5 episodes however they were so pleased with her they wrote the character in the remaining 5 as well. Known for her straight forward "northern lass" approach to things Melanie (along with Geri) were the unofficial "leaders" of the Spice Girls often guiding the decisions of the group. A daughter named Pheonix-Chi and a burgeoning acting career are keeping Melanie B busy these days. Favourite lines from Spice World: "I'm not from London y'know!" ""When i say go we go...GO!" (As Geri) "Um..blah blah blah...girl power...feminism...d'ya know wot I mean?" |
