Melanie C
sporty spice
Often called "talented spice" (to each their own!) Mel C was the one
with the chops to hit the high notes.  She released a successful solo album called
"Northern Star" which produced the #1  hits
"I Turn To You" and "Never Be The Same Again".

Like the other girls Melanie's body image has gone through a few changes and has been the subject of many a tabloid article.  Unlike the other girls however questions about Melanie's sexual orientation have also kept the trash mags busy (she's str8).

Always "honest" in her interviews, Melanie has infuriated
many a Spice fan by insulting the musical careers of her former bandmates with Victoria being the latest victim to her
strange outbursts.

As well as "talented spice" Melanie is also referred to as
"the one who can sing".  Well let me just say that
ALL THE SPICE GIRLS CAN SING.  Melanie C's voice is
technically better than the others.  But technical is the
key word.  It can often sound  (in my opinion) a little cold and lack the
warmth the other girls' "imperfections" have.  It has a more
rocky sound and therefore goes over well with the
Rolling Stone, SPIN, NME crowd.  In 1998 she recorded
a great duet with Canadian rock/pop singer Bryan Adams
called "When You''re Gone".  It was a big hit in Canada
and suprised many critics who didn't realise that a
Spice Girl could sing.

Sigh.

Her second solo album
"Reason" was released last
year to mixed reviews from critics and fans
(I did NOT like it).  It reached the top 20 unlike
Northern Star which was a Top 10 success.
And her latest single "Melt" didn't even reach the
top 20.

Melanie was the one who least felt comfortable with the OTT shenanigans of "Spice World " and that's fair enough.
h.However she  needs to come to terms with her "sporty" past and realise she can still be proud of her past  and at the same time move on towards a different musical style and career.
