As the shoppers rush home with their treasures...
I shot this outside of the famous Marshall Field's State Street store.  Outside this store each Christmas thousands of people gather around to witness the magical window displays.  Fortunately for me, it was a week night and there weren't as many people out, so there weren't too many people crowding the sidewalk.  For this shot, I am standing right by the entrance to the Red Line on State Street, so as I set up my camera for the shot, people looked like they were walking right at me.  It was kind of weird to have people walk right up to me and then walk by when there was all that sidewalk open.  They probably thought it was weird that I was standing so close to being in their way.  As I took this picture I was serenaded by the percussive beats of children pounding on paint buckets and a Salvation Army brass band, each about a block away.  With all of the lights, the music, the snow, and the people, it was really a nice feeling - hopefully you get some of the happy bussle of the city from this shot.
