People often ask me how to care for their bodhran on a long-term basis. I'll be filling in my opinions, but ask different players and you might get different answers!

Details and Extras
If you live in a dry, hot climate, you may have realized that your drum has a tendency of having a tight, unplayable skin.
This can be very dangerous, as bodhran skins crack and split under too much tension! A good case can fix your problem. :)

Cases not only provide protection for a bodhran, the provide a stable an good environment for it to live in, provided the humidity is good. Store the bodhran and case in a dark closet when at home. If you travel with your drum, wrap in in dry blankets.
Never leave your bodhran in a car while you're not with it, especially in the summertime when heat gets trapped in the vehicle. If you go indoors, take it with you!

Cases come in all shapes and sizes, but you should try to get one that fits your drum frame. If your drum has outward tuning mechs, the case will have to be a little bit bigger.
Cases are usually inexpensive, and range from 20-40$ when made of nylon. The cheaper ones offer space for the drum, but rarely provide sufficient padding and protection. a few dollars more will get you a case with pockets, stars, and a padded lining!
