TEE TIMES - Continued · Neighborhood and charter club playdays – there are too many of them receiving choice tee times. They should be limited to 2 times a year. Some neighborhoods use them to get a good tee time. They should be charged to block off the course. · Outside tournaments need to turn in their numbers 3 days before so that residents can have the unused times. Too many times the courses are wide open because the tournaments have fewer players than expected. · Reward our best customers, APH, by giving them preference in obtaining tee times · The priority system for allocating tee times is very unfair. There is no reason for twosomes to not have the same priority as foursomes. It does not utilize the course less. The system pairs us with either singles or another couple and we go out as a foursome every time the same as if we paired ourselves. It encourages members to use others’ numbers even though they will not be playing on that day. Usually they will “drop” them once the tee times are out. In other words, they are “working” the system. · Because it is so difficult for couples to get an acceptable tee time, I spend an inordinate amount of time trying to get an availability booking. This will become worse as the course gets more crowded prior to out third course. THERE IS SIMPLY NO REASON FOR THIS DISCRIMINATION. · Weighting tee times to favor infrequent golfers is grossly unfair LINKED TEE TIMES · Need the ability to link 4 or more tee times · We should be able to link 4 tee times · Linking should be eliminated START METHOD · Start method depends on time of year. Frost delays and daylight would limit numbers in winter. Summer months many people don’t want to play in the afternoon · Shot gun starts should be used especially in the winter · As you know, shotgun starts cut back golf play by 10%-15%. Also in the summer 1:00 shotguns the only reason to so 1 or 2 groups can play at same time – manage for all golfers. If you have shotgun starts then on time – not from pro shop · One course should have double tees when the other is a shotgun · We need more shotgun starts so more people can get better tee times · For course utilization, I numbered them (on the survey) appropriately but many times tee time is more important to me · A shotgun allows more to get a good tee time · Shotgun maximizes utilization but I only want it used once in a while · I believe that using more shotgun starts would be helpful and smart · In summer months or sooner have shotgun starts @ 7AM, 11:45AM and 3 PM for maximum course use. · Reduce complaints with more shotguns · What might be most effective (start method) may not be what I prefer CHELSEA SYSTEM · I hate it. You cannot make changes on it. Changes must be done in the pro shop which takes personnel time. You cannot double check your requests. These are some of the reasons we got rid of Chelsea the first time we had it · We use the Chelsea system (to request tee times). I don’t know what this system costs but we may want to look at it. If I understand the procedure right, we put in out requests then some one has to look at them and assign tee times. If Chelsea isn’t automatically assigning tee times, rather than going through this system it seems that a simple phone call would be just as well and we know the tee time immediately. I’ve never worked in a pro shop so don’t have the experience and the phone calls may be overwhelming. However, I know other courses seem to handle it well. FEES · It is critical to look (at) rates as well as expenses. No one wants to pay more than is reasonable, but it is necessary to pay rates sufficient to meet needs. It seems that a number of people wish to lay blame solely on expenses and continue to pay an insufficient rate for play. · I feel that the fee structure is good but would like a private resident only membership course even if it means a higher price or a “buy-in” for membership. · Every (other) place we play is less expensive and we get to use their carts · We must level off or reduce fees. Further increases will drive off players, decrease revenue and spread the operational cost over a smaller base forcing further increases. Thus, a death spiral. · One annual fee for all golfers should become the practice at Sun City · We do not receive value for our golf dollar · Simplify the cost of golf – require an annual golf membership for all golfers (residents). Those residents that don’t want to participate pay a “members” daily fee · Cost is important to me. I cannot play if cost exceeds my budget · Fees are fine presently · Reduce cost of annual pass |
