MISCELLANEOUS - Continued
· Not being retired yet, I am a once a week – sometimes twice a week player. I enjoy playing a nice manicured course with play that keeps moving.
· Due to recent surgery I have not used the courses as much in the past 18 months as I plan to use them in the future
· Parking at Legacy is AWFUL especially when there is a shotgun start.   Some of the shrubs should be removed to make more room for cart parking
· On the new course, use the same grass as the greens as White Wing so that two courses will be the same
· How can you improve our courses by reducing fees and/or costs unless our current budget is greatly over stated
· Let’s now advertise for residents to “adopt a hole” program
· Current attitude is that residents are captive audience with little option to play elsewhere.  Obviously Del Webb’s course objectives have been to sell new homes
· Have air compressors available so residents can blow (up) carts when they want to
· Number 11 hole on WW should be changed to a par 3 hole and extend #12 hole to a par 5
· Institute tournaments (particularly for couples) and have them professionally carried out
· Question #15 (re the survey) should include “improve quality of service and course management”

MANAGEMENT OUTSOURCE
· Not really my choice of the thing to do
· Hold costs down
· There will be a trade-off between course quality, course conditions and cost of play.  That is what needs to be set by a management team
· I expect a management company to reduce costs through more efficient use of personnel and equipment
· I believe an outside management company can do a more efficient job of cost containment and improve course conditions than what we are experiencing currently
· The most important part of an outside firm will be to reduce cost of operations.  Now the cost of operating these two courses is too high and no one is addressing this issue.  We are paying too much out in labor (too many people) and maintenance
· My thoughts are for Del Webb Pulte to remain in the management position and to hire sub contractors to do the labor
· Have a director of golf who would be held responsible for the entire golf operation.  Having course maintenance answerable to someone else is counter productive
· Maintain the same quality of course maintenance as we have now
· I would hope that the new mgmt company would provide us with a golfing experience we can be proud enough of to bring a guest without having to make excuses for our courses.
· My sense is the need is management change so a tweaking of the present operations will result
· #1 goal should be to reduce operational cost and that must first be determined.  Does anyone know the real cost?
· I feel outside management is needed for greens care.  There are a lot of wasted man hours.
· New management should be challenged to treat residents as “members”.  A new direction should be geared to run a professional golf course for fee paying members
· I believe a management group can run the facilities with better understanding of what the members’ needs are and maintain the golf courses in the condition that is acceptable to the majority of the golfing members and allocate tee times in the manner that is needed.  taking into consideration that annual passes are important.
· I would expect an outside management company to enforce all rules
· It seems to me that we should be requesting proposals from golf-course management firms in which they propose how they would manage and operate our golf courses using accepted standard business practices and procedures in the golf industry.  This would include their proposed plans and procedures to maintain the courses in a healthy and good playable condition while keeping the cost per round as low as possible.  The proposals should include their proposal for maximum play (assigned tee-times vs. shotgun start) how to work in the MGA and WGA tournaments, as well as the Presidents tournaments and the other special events, and how they would operate the practice areas (driving , short range and putting), over seeding of greens and fairways and all other areas of maintenance.  These firms have the expertise to operate golf courses for profit so we should let them tell us how their firm would operate our courses according to industry standards and in the most economically way feasible and still give us a great golfing experience.
· I would expect an outside management company to not show favoritism in assigning tee times
· I would like to see the management company work with the restaurants to be more golfer friendly.
· I don’t see how we can expect to lower costs on fees when we will be paying a goodly sum to a management company – seems fiscally unrealistic
· The new management company needs to focus on three things:
· Course conditioning: greens, traps, course cleanup (rocks, etc)
· Effective management of the pro shop, tee time scheduling, etc
