It's kinda fun to look at hamsters in other countries, so I think it would be nice to write down some sights and scenes of hamsters and petshops in other parts of the world. I would love to hear from other hamster hobbyists and their hamster spotting expeditions too!

My Other Pet
Kuala Lumpur, Sungei Wang, Jalan Bukit Bintang, 6th Floor
This place is rather obscured. Sitting on the same floor as the bowling alley, it stocks some cages of dwarf and syrian hamsters, as well as some dogs and cats. The animals are pretty well kept in large cages, and offer a nice view of them. Does not carry different colours of syrians and dwarfs, but there are quite a few golden and cream syrians around.

PJ, Midvalley MegaMall
Large two-storey petshop on a high floor at the same level as the cinema.
Lots of different animals to look at, and the last time I went there, there were two enclosures of ferrets! Quite a few cages of dwarf and syrian hamsters too! There were some sable and black eyed white syrians going for about RM30, which was surprisingly more expensive than the dwarf hamsters at RM18.
Most of the pet products were rather pricey, however, the entire pet viewing session was rather enjoyable.

Subang, Parkson Grand, Pets Wonderland
A large two-level petshop, which is well stocked with all kinds of dwarf and syrian hamsters on the ground level. It has some dogs and cats and ferrets in the basement level, and the vet is residing there too! Short haired syrians are going for RM35, roborovskis are selling for RM38 and pearl ww are selling for RM38. Sapphire and normal ww are selling for RM22, wonder why...

Johor Bahru, Giant Shopping Mall
Lots of dwarfs hamsters cramped into small dirty cages. Many short haired cream and cream banded syrians too.

Bangkok, Chatuchak Market (Weekend Market)
Entire area dedicated to all kinds of interesting animals and sometimes wildlife, including cats, dogs, birds, rodents, reptiles and fishes. They even have areas for fighting cocks too.
So much things to look at, and so little time. This is the weekend market, and any hamster hobbyist visiting Bangkok should visit this place, it just drives you wild like a kid lost in a candy store.
Some of the petshops are air-conditioned, which gives a welcome relief from the smothering heat, unless you happen to chance upon the thirst quenching, cold young coconuts.
As some of the petshops selling small animals also sell reptiles and snakes, you just can't help feeling worried for the sick, injured or unsold rodents, which include hamsters, mice and squirrels.
Hong Kong
Kowloon, Tung Choi Street
Do make a trip to Tung Choi street if you're visiting Hong Kong.
They have one entire lane lined with small petshops selling hamsters, cats, dogs and other kinds of pets, and another lane selling fishes in air-filled bags.
Some of the shops do stock up interesting pet products which are not normally found back home.
They have interesting chinese names for the hamsters there, and aptly named the roborovskis hamsters as Xiu Lo Bo (Little Road Precious)
The whole visit was rather fun and eventful.
I heard that there is also an area in Whompoa that has lots of petshops, but have yet to verify that. Hmmm...maybe the next trip.
Taiwan
Taipei, Shih Ling Night Market
Petshops are hard to find here. They do have some, and do not generally carry much hamsters. But if you really want to see some, make a trip down to the Shih Ling night market, one of the largest night markets around.

Taipei, Ximending
You will find some petshops hidden in obscured corners in the many ways streets. Not easy to spot, saved for the die-hard and determined hamster hobbyists. They have more dogs than hamsters there.
