Picnic to Agasthyavanam, 8 Jan

Club members from ten families participated in the one-day picnic to Agasthyavanam on Sunday, 8 Jan 2006. The forest is about 90 minutes by road from Trivandrum. The picnic spot was 4 km into the forest, reachable only by foot, over difficult terrain, rocky and steep in many places. Every member, right from the young kids to the elders and the ladies, enjoyed the adventurous trip. The members also enjoyed bathing in the waterfall. Lunch was had by the side of the waterfall.
Ten Y's Men, Eight Y's Menettes and 12 Y's Lings participated in the picnic. Ajay (Asha's husband) had come for the first time to a club gathering. Ajay works in Nigeria and is in India on vacation. The presence of Ym. George Varghese who recently celebrated his 80th birthday was an inspiration to all youngsters. At the other end of the age-spectrum were the five year old Ganga, Sanjana and Santhwana.
The members were particularly thankful to Ym. Prasad Varghese for the selection of the picnic spot. Just before arrival at the forest borders, Prasad had given a briefing about what to expect and how to behave in the forest, especially the need to avoid any plastic pollution. Photos.
