Large Animal Anatomy

The most highly recommended book in this book list is Anatomy of Domestic Animals: Systemic and Regional Approach by Chris Pasquini et al. - as one person has quipped as the "vet student's best friend".  Written in the simplest most straight-forward manner possible, and accompanied with detailed but easy to understand illustrations, this book has deservedly won anatomical book awards.  Each black and white anatomical drawing is annotated with a short paragraph description, usually within the same page or the adjacent facing page.  If even more detail is required, especially when looking up structures in preparation for surgery, thesis-like books like Textbook of Veterinary Anatomy by Dyce and Miller's Anatomy of the Dog by Howard Evans offer better descriptions.
