Chapter 354

Guardian Mercury swatted an enemy away and for the first time noticed the Infinity Building's transformation.

"Well now it's all out in the open I guess," he said and blasted a minion.

He glanced over at Guardian Earth who was avoiding and parrying with several flying minions.

Gmerc dodged a similar dive attack from a minion and let his own visor slide under his face. He quickly tried to analyze the fortress.

"Hey! What are you doing? How about fighting here?" Guardian Earth said.

"I know what I'm doing," Gmerc said. "Haven't you noticed that building?"

"Not our problem at the moment," Guardian Earth said.

"It could be quite quickly if they have any weapons on that thing," Gmerc said.

"Haven't you noticed the horde of enemies attacking us right now?"

Gmerc sighed.

"I'm well aware of that!" he said and blew apart seven opponents quickly.

Sailor Mercury studied the fortress very closely.

"Well they've sealed off all the obvious entryways," Sailor Mercury said. "Also, an energy shield has been placed over the building."

"We've broken through stuff like that before though," Sailor Neptune said.

"True, I'm more worried about these.." Sailor Mercury said pointing at glowing dots on her computer.

"What are they?" Neptune asked.

"I'm not sure, they could be just parts of the energy shield, or they could be a weapons system of some kind," Sailor Mercury said.

"Let's find out," Maverick said and leapt forward towards the building let an attack loose.

Seconds later streaks of energy arced at her. She dodged them quickly, back flipped and landed back at the other scouts.

"I'd say that's a weapon system there," she said.

"And a quite formidable one," Sailor Neptune said.

"So we must go under it then," Sailor Saturn said.

"I don't think so," Malcian said.

"Why not?" Maverick asked.

"Because that is obviously what they want us to do. They know we've been finding everything else of theirs in the sewer. They'll be waiting. Perhaps with all their remaining forces."

"We have no way of knowing that really," Sailor Mercury said. "However, it makes sense. Needless to say breaking in through the shield would probably throw them off balance."

"That's because it seems so impossible to do," Guardian Jupiter said.

"That's where we thrive though," Sailor Neptune said.

"Mercury did you get a reading on those energy blasts?" Maverick asked.

"Yes," Mercury said.

"How strong are they?" Maverick asked.

"Well..it's always hard to tell with new forms of energy, but let me run an analysis," Mercury said and quickly began typing into her computer.

"If we can find out how strong it is, we might be able to hold them off, while the other's punch through the shield," Maverick said.

"I wonder just what awaits us inside though," Guardian Jupiter said.

"Think of it as opening a present and not knowing what's inside," Sailor Neptune said. "You'll feel better."

"How?" Guardian Jupiter muttered.

"You may have defeated my minions, but not me," a quite dangerous armored warrior said standing facing Guardian Earth and Guardian Mercury. This warrior also had a new variety of minions holding large blades surrounding him.

"So you want the big guy or the little guys?" Guardian Earth said.

"You can have the big guy," Gmerc said. "I prefer to do the most damage possible."

"Enjoy yourself," Guardian Earth said.

"Ah..a challenger," The warrior said advancing with his own energy broadsword.

The other minions slowly advanced towards Guardian Mercury.

"Afraid of me?" Gmerc asked. "At least your not that stupid!"

He charged forward and destroyed ten right off the bat. The others swarmed. Gmerc grinned slightly and met them.

The warrior swung at Guardian Earth who blocked the blow and then swung back with a special move. The warrior met it and attacked. Guardian Earth leapt backwards quickly to regroup.

"Oh yes, I am quite good," The warrior said.

"We'll see if that's still true at the end of the fight!" Guardian Earth said.

"All right..here's what I'm thinking, if the four Earth warriors can put a shield up to block the energy attacks, the five scouts can punch through the energy shield with a second level energy blast. I predict the energy hole will exist for seventeen seconds, in that time, we will have to blast through the armor as well," Sailor Mercury said.

"And get inside?" Guardian Saturn asked. "That's cutting it quite close."

"I know," Sailor Mercury said. "But we have to conserve our strength for the battle inside, whatever it may be."

"All right, here's what I'm thinking," Maverick said. "You all give me your energy swords. You hit the shield, and then I'll fire the swords. We'll punch through the shield and the armor inside."

"You only have two hands," Sailor Neptune said.

"Yes, well I'll figure it out," Maverick said.

"All right," Sailor Mercury said. "The timing of this will be essential!"

The group all nodded.

"You'll find that I am more than your equal," The warrior said.

"I don't think you're in a position to judge that!" Guardian Earth said attacking again. The warrior nonchalantly blocked him.

"Don't think about trying to wear me down either, I've been down that road," The warrior said.

Guardian Earth sighed.

He is very good. But I'm better.

Earth launched his energy attack, the warrior sidestepped, Earth charged and swung. The warrior dodged him and swung his sword anyway, Earth slid under it and fired. The warrior leapt back.

"Ah...now at least it is in interesting," the Warrior said.

Guardian Earth grimaced.

Gmerc spun firing quickly. Another twenty enemies disappeared, but more kept coming.

This is what you signed on for, what you like to do! He thought. I don't like to do this, I'm just good at it. How annoying that is, skilled at fighting losing battles. I really should develop a more useful life skill.

The minions all stopped attacking for a moment. Gmerc paused too. Then from the crowd emerged a minion with a red color instead of black. He held a more elaborate sword and let out a laugh. The other minions all made noises. Gmerc stared him down. The red minion swung his sword in the air showing off his supposed skill. The minions growled. The red minion strangely did a little dance and then faced down Gmerc said.

"I'm going to enjoy this," Gmerc said readying his sword. The red minion laughed and charged forward.

"GO!" Sailor Mercury shouted.

The four Earth warriors leapt forward. A barrage of energy flew at them. They blasted it away with an energy shield, but it still reigned down.

"MERCURY ICE STORM BLAST!"

"SATURN BLADE OF GALAXIES!"

"SATURN DIMENSIONAL REVOLUTION!"

"NEPTUNE DEEP SUBMERGE!"

"JUPITER STAR INFERNO!"

The five attacks blew through the energy shield. Maverick charged forward and with both hands fired several swords into the armor, spinning as she did so. A huge hole opened up. The scouts raced through it. Maverick followed. The Earth warriors dived in as the shield closed.

Mercury pulled out her communicator.

"Sailor Mercury to Earth and Gmerc, we're in."

"Good.." Guardian Mercury replied quickly.

"You all right out there?" Sailor Mercury said.

"Oh..fine..it's great fun out here." Guardian Mercury muttered.

"We'll see you soon," Sailor Mercury said.

"Be careful."

"We'll try," Sailor Mercury said.

The group of scouts was soon hurrying through the fortress.

Meanwhile in Tokyo.

"Just a little farther," Guardian Moon said.

"Say..if you knew where the base was, why didn't you tell us?" Sailor Moon asked.

"We had our reasons," Guardian Moon said.

"Such as?" Sailor Mars said.

"Let it go scouts," Sailor Pluto said. "Right now we've got a job to do, we can argue over the strategy used later."

"I just don't like that, that's all," Sailor Mars said.

"Me neither," Sailor Jupiter said. "We're supposed to work as a team."

"It was in the best interests of the team that we did this," Sailor Earth said.

"Trust me, they mean what they're saying," Sailor Uranus said.

"Whatever," Sailor Mars said. "Let's just do this."

"Venus are you really going to go into battle like that?" Guardian Venus asked staring at Sailor Venus' new uniform which she had yet to change the colors back to normal.

"Sure," Sailor Venus said. "I like the look."

Guardian Venus sighed.

"Don't you like it?" she asked.

"It's not that at all," Guardian Venus said. "I think it's the underlying principle."

"Which is?" Sailor Venus asked.

"Enough of that, we're here," Sailor Uranus said.

The scouts all peered around a corner.

"A garbage dump?" Sailor Moon asked. "Their base is a garbage dump!"

"They can be very dangerous you know," Guardian Neptune said.

"What better place to hide anything when you think about it," Guardian Moon said.

"So..what now? Do we just start blowing up garbage?" Sailor Jupiter asked.

"We don't need to be that complex," Guardian Moon said. A visor slid over his face.

"Oh...you've got one of those too," Guardian Neptune said. "I should have one."

"What for?" Guardian Pluto muttered.

"It looks kinda boss don't you think?"

"Kinda boss?" Everyone muttered.

Guardian Neptune smiled.

"All right, I have a plan," Guardian Moon said.

"Wait a second, I'm the leader here," Sailor Moon said.

"And I'm the one with the only device here that can detect where the enemy is," Guardian Moon said.

"That's hardly a qualification to be leader," Sailor Moon said.

"Listen, just tell us what we need to know," Sailor Pluto said. "We'll work off that basis."

"Uh..right, well.." Guardian Moon said. "They've hidden some sort of buildings under each mass. Over in the far right corner is their hive where they produce new monsters. In the center presumably protected by all the other buildings is the central area."

"Then let's just blow it all up," Guardian Pluto said.

"Easier said then done," Guardian Moon said.

"Why is that?" Sailor Uranus said.

"Because the garbage is in itself a shield," Guardian Moon said. "To get to the bases we have to break down the shields first."

"So we blow up the garbage then," Sailor Jupiter said.

"But we have to do it systematically and with the realization that the minute we attack, the base will be swarming with enemies and furthermore that these buildings won't just sit there and take it either," Guardian Moon said.

"Oh is that all," Guardian Neptune said.

"Listen here's what we should do," Guardian Uranus said. "The Guardian Scouts can draw out the enemy and attack the first bases. The rest of you react to what they do, and go from there."

"So were supposed to be fodder then?" Guardian Mars asked.

"It's what the Guardian Scouts are best at," Guardian Uranus said.

Guardian Mars sighed.

"Besides it serves a good purpose," Guardian Uranus said.

"I of course must say behind to observe," Guardian Moon said.

"Sure, you do," Guardian Uranus said not all that nicely. "Just tell us where to shoot."

"All right, the two entry pilons will cause a great deal of trouble if not taken out. If you can hit them above well, they should be surprised," Guardian Moon said. "The other buildings can shoot at you so be ready to do a lot of dodging."

"My specialty," Guardian Neptune said.

"Be careful," Sailor Mars said.

"Good luck," Sailor Moon said.

The five Guardian Scouts leapt towards the buildings.

"We'll get the first one, you get the second," Guardian Uranus said to the starlights.

"Whatever," Guardian Mars said. The two sides raced toward the dump and leapt.

"Uranus Flame of Desire!"

"Pluto Hurricane Punch!"

"Neptune Tide of Destruction!"

"Mars Star Laser!"

"Venus Star Burst!"

Garbage flew everywhere as the attacks blasted through them. The base became with minions scurrying into action.

"Watch this," Neptune said and drew his sword, he leapt at one of the towers and dug his sword into the side, he slid down it and nothing happened.

"Ah come on! It should have exploded for sure!" he shouted.

A barrage of energy flew at him. He dived out of the way.

"Let's take care of those minions," Uranus said.

Pluto nodded.

The two dived into a brawl with the black minions.

"Venus Star Burst!"

"Mars Star Laser!"

The two attacks smashed into the enemy tower, it began to fall. Energy flew at the two knocking them back.

"Left ourselves open," Venus said spinning to keep an eye on the other attacks.

"Let's go scouts," Sailor Moon said. The rest of the scouts raced towards the dump. More and more minions were hurrying out.

"This is getting ridiculous!" Guardian Pluto said.

"Duck!" Guardian Neptune said pulling Pluto and Uranus to the ground with him. A barrage of energy flew at them and vaporized several enemies.

"They're willing to sacrifice their own?" Guardian Uranus said.

"Or they don't have good aim," Guardian Neptune said. "Watch out!"

The three dived out of the way again.

"MARS CELESTIAL FIREBALL SURROUND!"

"VENUS LOVE CHAIN ENCIRCLE!"

The two attacks blew up one of the towers.

Sailor Jupiter leapt forward.

"Jupiter Oak Evolution!"

The attack slammed through the garbage shield of another tower and smashed into it. A barrage of energy flew at her. She dived out of the way.

Sailor Earth leapt forward and launched her own attack, the tower exploded.

"Look at this mess," Sailor Moon muttered.

"Don't worry Sailor Moon, I'll protect you," Tuxedo Mask said swinging his staff.

"With you here, what do I have to worry about?" she said.

"URANUS WORLD SHAKING!"

The attack rippled along the ground blowing minions left and right before slamming into the garbage shield.

"Not enough power.." she said.

"PLUTO DEAD SCREAM!"

The next attack shot out and blasted into the tower.

"We're getting there,"Pluto said.

"Look at all the enemies though, they're really going to wear us down," Sailor Uranus said.

A massive surge of energy shot out from several of the towers. The scouts all dodged it, but were becoming increasingly overwhelmed.

"What a mess!" Sailor Moon shouted narrowly avoiding becoming caught up in an avalanche of garbage. Cars and trucks began skidding up.

"What's that?" she said turning. A smile formed on her face. A small army of police and SDF soldiers were running into the dump, swords drawn. They immediately began slicing and brawling with the minions.

"That's more like it," Sailor Moon said.

"Now let's get rid of those buildings!" Guardian Earth said hurrying forward.

The scouts all charged ahead looking to destroy the base once and for all.

Maverick slid forward and cut through the minions who charged them.

"Looks like they weren't ready for an assault like this," she said.

"Then again, we're only on the thirteenth floor," Guardian Jupiter said.

"Interesting transportation system they've set up here," Nisiran said.

"It's been working to keep us slowed down," Sailor Mercury said. "Stairs that only go a few flights up at a time."

"How annoying," Ziarca said. "You'd think they'd be nice enough to send an elevator down."

Sailor Mercury turned and glanced at her.

"Without the fireball down the elevator shaft of course," Ziarca added with a smile.

Several more minions appeared down the hall.

"We've gotta keep going!" Maverick said racing forward.

The scouts surged after her.

Gmerc stabbed the red minion and fired. It was blown off the roof of the building. The other minions growled and advanced again.

"I'm waiting," Gmerc said. The minions hesitated.

Guardian Earth was still having problems, this enemy warrior was his match. He knew that. The enemy swung his broadsword with great speed, easily stopping and trying a new angle of attack, he handled the larger weapon as easily as Earth held his small rapier shaped energy sword.

"I think it's time to end the games," The warrior said.

Guardian Earth had heard such boasts before.

The warrior hurried forward. Guardian Earth leapt over him and fired off a barrage. The warrior spun and side stepped him, Guardian Earth didn't stop, but landed and leapt forward firing again, the warrior dodged, but Guardian Earth didn't stop moving and brought his sword down sliding it along the edge of the warrior and through him. The warrior staggered back.

"You will not defeat me," it said. Guardian Earth moved to attack again. The warrior blocked him and Earth felt a strange sharp pain in his side, he backed off, and saw a blade was stuck right into his side. The pain shot through him.

"That usually works," The warrior said and shooting forward. Guardian Earth blocked him and staggered back, this was no ordinary blade either, it stung badly. Earth gasped.

The warrior grinned slightly holding his own wound and executed a fast move. Guardian Earth slid under it and stabbed hit blade went shooting through the warrior, he let out a shout as Guardian Earth let loose his attack.

The warrior disappeared and Guardian Earth staggered up, trying to pull the blade out of his side. He grimaced as the pain continued to shoot through him. The blade came out. He shouted in pain and moved to cover the wound. Scouts could bleed, just not that quickly. He sat on the ground wincing and began to move to bind the wound.

Back in Tokyo.

The forces of good let out a shout as another tower exploded. The brawl was intensifying as more humans appeared to do battle with the aliens.

The scouts were meanwhile concentrating on the central base area, which was shooting off beams of energy faster then expected at the group. The scouts all dodged them and let loose their attacks.

"It can't be long now," Sailor Moon said.

"Indeed the structural integrity of the base is collapsing," Guardian Moon said. "Hit it again!"

The scouts attacked again blowing massive holes in the walls.

Suddenly the base blew apart in a massive output of energy. Everyone was blasted to the ground. The minions dissipated, the humans dropped unconscious. The scouts slowly picked themselves up off the ground. Sailor Moon stared through dust that had risen. Figures began to walk towards here.

"Who's that," she said.

The scouts all tensed. Several figures approached their position and stood facing them.

"You've destroyed our bases, but you won't destroy us," they said taking up fighting stances.

"Looks like these are the ones behind it," Sailor Pluto said.

"Apparently so," Sailor Uranus said. And the scouts prepared to face their opponents, weakened though they were.

Guardian Mercury had lost count of how many enemies he had destroyed in such a short period of time. What really mattered to him was there was still masses of them charging as well as swooping towards him.

They had better do something soon. He thought, casting a glance over to where Guardian Earth had been fighting, he didn't see either combatant.

I don't know if that's a good sign or not. He thought as more demons surged towards him. They really want a brawl don't they? Well I'm getting sick of them all.

"MERCURY Devout Revenge!" he shouted blasting fifty off the rooftop and spinning to catch minions sneaking up behind him.

"Come on!" he shouted and angrily charged into the midst of them.

"Halfway there," Guardian Saturn said as the scouts raced down a hallway.

"Of course that's assuming that there is some sort of enemy waiting at the top," Guardian Jupiter said.

"True," Sailor Neptune said. "But where else would they wait?"

"I don't know, these enemies have been pretty annoying," Guardian Jupiter said.

"Enemy up ahead," Mercury said quickly.

"Got it," Maverick said and blasted them as they came around the corner.

"Oh wonderful, another stairwell," she added as they dashed up another set of stairs.

"Oh, no back, down, back down," Sailor Mercury said.

The group hurried back down. A massive fireball dropped towards them destroying the stairs as it did so. The scouts all dived back into the hallway.

"They've done this all before," Sailor Mercury said.

"So how do we get up there now?" Jupiter asked.

"Well..there should be other stairs," Jasen said.

"We could do it the old fashioned way," Sailor Mercury said and pointed at the ceiling.

"You mean leap up every floor?" Jupiter asked.

"It's how they got up the Jade corp building," Guardian Saturn said.

"Yes, I was especially good at my defenses wasn't I?" Jasen said.

None of them gratified him with a reply.

"Maverick will you do the honors?" Mercury asked.

Maverick blasted a hole in the ceiling. And the group soon was hurrying onto another floor.

"They're coming you know," Ambassador Churchill said into a view screen. "Just how are you going to stop them."

"Please, we were always quite prepared for an enemy attack of this nature. By the time they arrive they will be weakened and tired, then my elite forces will destroy them," the figure in the shadows replied.

The figure emerged form the shadows revealing the familiar face and body of Sylia Coral. Churchill looked on in shock.
