6.1 - Do you believe in the big bang? Hi everyone! We told you that you hadn't heard the last of us. Do you believe in the big bang? Well, we do: the end of our wonderful European experience went out with the biggest bang you can imagine! Have you heard of the Never-ending story? Well, let us tell you how it begins: There we were, already hours ahead of our flight to Frankfurt where we would catch our connecting flight to Toronto. We sat in the lobby just outside the boarding doors for a never-ending period of time due to the never-ending delay of our plane. Starved half to death, we finally boarded, dragging ourselves on the plane with our last reserves of energy. Another never-ending wait followed before the plane took off. Finally we were in the air, arriving shortly in Frankfurt. Originally we should have had about an hour in Frankfurt before boarding our connecting flight to Toronto. Alas, due to the never-ending delays, we glanced at our watches just as we left the plane only to see that our spare hour was gone. Had the plane to Toronto already left?!! We raced off the plane and began our trek through what was, as we soon discovered, the never-ending airport of Frankfurt. Let us tell you, this is the most nightmarish airport we have ever been in. (And others have told us of similar experiences there.) We had to get to Gate B - down one hallway, up an elevator, down another and then another literally never-ending hallway where the exit looked far off in the distance. Luckily there were moving sidewalks; oh and there was entertainment as well -someone thought it would be funny to put florescent lights down this hall which constantly changed colour every few seconds, and made you feel as if you were in the twilight zone! Well, when you're already feeling lightheaded due to running (endlessly) with tons of weight on your back, slightly empty stomachs, not enough sleep, and wondering whether you've missed your flight, this does not seem very amusing. We FINALLY got to our departure gate and asked the lady about our flight to TO. "Toronto's gone," she bluntly declared, "you'll have to take the flight tomorrow," . . . .
