| What was your first solo stand-up gig?
I was in radio, doing voices and stuff, and a comic who was doing an interview at the station invited me down to the comedy club to meet the owner. I went in, showed him a few bits I had been working on, and he invited back to do five minutes that Sunday. From that point on, I have been in a comedy club, on stage working ever since. What is your worst nightmare as a comic while performing on stage? Has it happened? Performing for no one or getting to a show and finding out that no one came to see you. Yes, it has happened. I think the smallest crowd I ever performed for was 12 people. At what age did you realize you were funny? Why? Tell us the story. I have been doing voices since I was about eight or so. I have always been a bit of an entertainer, and I have always loved comedy, I just figured it was something I just did, I never thought I could actually turn it into a job. Who are your comic influences? What are your comedic influences? I love comedians, have always loved comedians. I started listening to this old radio show called Dr. Demento when I was seven or eight. I would sneak my little radio into my bed and listen. It was the first time I heard stand-up and funny songs; it spoke to me. I loved it! After that, my Dad gave me his old Cosby records, and that was like a caveman discovering fire! After that, I searched out and devoured as much comedy as I could; I still love comedians. I listen to comedy all the time; it inspires me and makes me work harder. What is the worst job you have ever had? Installing hardwood floors. I did it for two days. What are some of your favorite television shows? Movies? Television shows: "Family Guy," "30 Rock," "South Park," "The Office" (US and UK), "Extras," "Dexter," "MST3K," "Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern," anything on National Geographic or Discovery Channel. Oh, and "Last Comic Standing" Season 6 of course! Movies: "Fight Club," "Donnie Darko," "Sin City," "300," "Transformers," "Batman Begins," "Iron Man" (one of the best movies I have seen recently.) What do you hope to gain by becoming the Last Comic Standing? The ability to do what I do for a lot more people, really get my name out there, have people actually want to come out and see me, be able to make a living, provide for my family, and do what I love. Most embarrassing moment? Have you recovered? Hmmm? Not sure, I haven't watched the whole show yet, but perhaps the Wonder Woman photo shoot… Give us your best "knock knock" joke. Knock Knock. Who's there? The "Last Comic Standing" winner is…The "Last Comic Standing" winner is who? The "Last Comic Standing" winner is MARCUS! What is the worst question you have ever been asked in an interview? Who farted? |
