65. Brigadier General John⁸ DENT (Colonel George⁷, Colonel William⁶, Judge Thomas⁵, Peter⁴, James³, William², Roger¹) was born in Clarke's Purchase, Charles, MD 1733.⁽⁴⁴⁴⁾ John died 1809 in Pomonkey Hundred, Charles, MD, at 76 years of age.⁽⁴⁴⁵⁾

He married Sarah MARSHALL in Charles Co., MD, 27 FEB 1754.⁽⁴⁴⁶⁾ Sarah was born OCT 1735.⁽⁴⁴⁷⁾ Sarah was the daughter of Thomas MARSHALL and Elizabeth Bishop STODDERT. Sarah died 9 APR 1795 at 59 years of age.⁽⁴⁴⁸⁾ Her body was interred in Charles Co., MD, Marshall Hall.⁽⁴⁴⁹⁾ John was a delegate to the General Assembly 1775, Brigadier General 1776, Deputy to the State Legislature 1776, Justice of the Peace 1778, Magistrate 1778. In his Will, dated 3-10-1803, he left the plantation "Clarke's Purchase" to his son John, and gave slaves to Anne, George and Thomas. The rest of his estate was divided equally among these 3. Elizabeth had died young.

94 ii. Elizabeth DENT was born 1754.⁽⁴⁵¹⁾

95 iii. Ann Herbert DENT was born in Charles Co., MD 30 OCT 1756.⁽⁴⁵²⁾ Ann died 1813 at 56 years of age.⁽⁴⁵³⁾ She married Captain William M. WILKINSON. (See Captain William M. WILKINSON for the continuation of this line.)

96 iv. Captain George DENT was born 1758.⁽⁴⁵⁴⁾ George died 1813 at 55 years of age.⁽⁴⁵⁵⁾ He served as a Captain during the Revolution and was Speaker of the House of the Maryland Legislature and later Congress
