Sandford, Henry Farmer, owned a coalyard and meadow on the corner of The Gangway and East St, now a garage. The meadow was used to dry out the bathing machines. He lived in a house called the beeches opposite the Albion Hotel. Owned the coal ship "Commerce".    
Sandford, George Brother of Henry came to live at The beeches when William moved out. The Beeches are now Lloyds Bank.    
Sandford, William G. Son of Henry Sandford lived in The Beeches carrying on his father's business. He was a Lloyds' agent and hon. Secretary of the the local branch of the RNLI. Simons, Simeon Simeon was educated at Gresham School and was responsible for building the Bath House, on the site of the garden of Captain Custance which slid down the cliff. It provided baths of salt water from a well just in front. There were bathing machines too, he later went on to be the master of the Goldsmith's School in Overstrand Rd
