Camping Information

For those of you who would wish to join us and camp in the Spring Mill State Park Campgrounds the following information is included:
Spring Mill State Park has 187 "Class A" and 36 "Class C" campsites available. Half of them are reservable and the other half are available on a first come first served basis. "Class A" campsites are $11.00/night at this writing and consist of a campsite with an electrical hookup, water hookup, picnic table, fire ring, and parking spur. There are modern restrooms and showers and dumping stations in convenient locations throughout the campground.
"Class C" sites are $5.00/night and are considered primitive sites which consist of picnic table, fire ring, parking spur. There are drinking water supply areas, and pit toilets (no showers or restrooms).
The campground also has a campstore near the office.
It is very advisable to make reservations in advance. The procedure follows:

Campground Reservation Check List

· Phone reservations for camping are never accepted.
· Reservations for our event may be made by mail on or after March 1, 2000.
· Mail reservations to: Spring Mill State Park, Box 376, Mitchell, Indiana, 47446
· Make checks payable to: Indiana Department of Natural Resources
· Reservation request should include: Name, address, phone number. Dates you plan to arrive and depart. Number and type of campsites you wish to reserve (up to four per request). Each site must be in a different name and include address of person responsible for each campsite. All must be for same dates.
· A deposit equal to one night’s camping fee for each site required. Will be credited toward the total bill.
· Non-refundable handling fee of $1.00 for each campsite requested.
· Include type and size of camping unit. Tent, RV (length), trailer (length). While there is no absolute maximum size for RV’s and trailers, most parks have only a limited number of sites that can safely accommodate units larger than 26 feet.

Spring Mill has two kinds of Class "A" sites. One type is wooded and has a back-to-nature atmosphere; however, this means that you will be well shaded but if it rains it will get muddy. The other sites are open, grassy sites, with less shade, but no mud if it rains. You might put in your reservation request your preference for either woods area or open, grassy area.

For a more complete look at campground information and campground rules, call the Indiana Department of Natural Resources at (317) 232-4124 or Indiana only 1-800-622-4931 and request an Indiana Recreation Guide be sent to you. It would also be a good idea to call one of these numbers prior to making your reservation to check and see if there has been a price increase.

Once you have decided to reserve a campsite, please send in your reservation form and check the "will be  camping " spot on the form so that we will know of your plans to join us.

All our experiences camping in Indiana State Parks have been enjoyable experiences, so we hope that if you choose this option yours will be, too.
