Coeliac (celiac) disease is a non-infectous disease, caused by an intolerance to gluten, a protein in wheat and some other grains. This prevents the proper absobrtion of nutrients by causing physical changes in the small intestine.
The condition affects roughly 1 in a thousand in the UK.
Most good hotels and restaurants will cater if given sufficient warning. These have been recommended and found to be very, very good!
