"I swear I saw an article written on
the California Jam and why Ritchie attacked the cameraman with his guitar.
Where is that article???" - Request by ratboy from
??? There's an article about the whole Jam thing written by Bruce Pilato included with the Mausoleum Classix release of "Deep Purple Live at the California Jam." Pretty amusing stuff, and classic Blackmore! - Response from kiuttud from ??? Rat Boy, The story I read in a book written in 1982 says that at California Jam Purple were supposed to go on stage at sunset, but things ran like clockwork and they were to go on earlier. Blackmore sat in the dressing room for as long as he could pretending to tune his guitar - this dragged on for a while until the promoter called the sheriff and was going to throw Purple off the bill. Luckily a quick thinking roadie got to the pa and yelled "Do yo wanna see Deep Purple" 300,000 yanks replied "Yeeesss" so had Purple been thrown off there would have been a riot. Anyway the band went on stage near enough to sunset but Ritchie was brooding. It was an extremely hot day/evening and Ritchie had told the cameraman to keep out of his side of the stage (and face). The cameraman didn't listen so when Ritchie thought 'Right payback time" he gave the order to set fire to an amp and of course the camera man got his just deserts too. The camera man didn't work again after that - he was blown away for good. Blackmore escaped by helicopter before he could be thrown into jail. Cheers - Response from Col from ??? |
"Not to be a nit picker or anything, just figured I give you some up to date info about Blackmore's Night because the line up you have listed is incorrect. In fact Kevin Dunne never even went out with Ritchie although he did appear on the Under a Violet Moon album. You obviously know Ritchie and Candice Night. The rest of band that just toured was: Adam Forgione: Keyboards and background vocals - Alex Alexander: Drums/percussion - Jim Hurley: Violin, Acoustic Guitar and Mandolin - Mick Cervino: Bass and support act - Marci Geller: Background Vocals and Keyboards, and support act..." - Comments by Lesle Worman of Sonic Underground Records |
"...I have a few questions, I hope You
can clarify for me: a) Which Dio era material exist on video apart from the Rockpalast 1977 concert? I know that LA connection and LLRR have been shown on Tommy Vance Rockshow. Some even mention Gates of Babylon exist on video? b) On All Music Guide a Rainbow Radio Special 1975 is listed released by Polydor. Have you ever seen this? I hope to hear from You." - Request by Jacob from Denmark There are many videos out there and most are bootlegs. I have not seen the ones you have and the ones you are looking for might be out there. Check music conventions and you might come across some. - (-:Omega:-) |
"HI Could you please tell me who the newest members of Rainbow
are..." - Request by Bill from Ottawa, Ontario,
Canada Ritchie's current band is not called Rainbow. The lineup for his current band is: Ritchie Blackmore - acoustic/electric guitars, cello, mandolin; Candice Night - vocals, penny whistle; Jessie Haynes - guitar, back up vocals; Mick Cervino - Bass; Adam Forgione - keyboards, vocals; Kevin Dunne - percussion; Rachel Birkin - violin, back up vocals. - (-:Omega:-) |
"A few real tough finds for a Ritchie fan: (1) The Adam Faith single from 1976 "I survive" featuring the man in black on guitar, (2) The 1990 RCA single Love Conquers All backed with the elusive track "Slow Down, Sister" by Deep Purple, (3) The song "Fire, Ice and Dynamite" performed by Deep Purple on the soundtrack of the same name (1990), (4) the quad mix for the Stormbringer LP featuring an alternate version of "Soldier of Fortune", and the quad mix of "Maybe I'm a Leo" off of Machine Head featuring an alternate lead solo. Does anyone have any of these? Does anyone know here you can get any of these? Hope to hear from you!!" - Request by Jess B. from West Long Branch, New Jersey, U.S.A. |
"Anybody know if there is a cd (or tape) available anywhere of the Deep Purple classic Deep Purple in concert with the Royal Philharmonic, or Concerto for Band and Orchestra, or something like that. It was actually the first album recorded with the classic DP lineup, Paice/Glover/Blackmore/Lord/Gillan, before "In Rock" even. If anybody knows anything about this please contact me." - Request by Curt Miller from ??? |
