"I'm not all that innocent anymore"

This has got to be one of the hardest songs on RTS to get used to. It’s not your typical song, not very melodious, and a lot of people get turned off by Adam’s seemingly lack of originality by using such lines such as "rain rain go away…." But well, I think that this is a good song, not one of my favorites but pretty admirable.

I always admired the way Adam expressed himself. And if there is ONE song that really sums up for me the point of frustration(with fame) that he so often talks about, its got to be this song. He just lets it all out on this one, and you know what? It all ain’t that pretty, but the beauty of it is that he doesn’t care. There’s no hesitation here, it’s pure honest emotion at its best.

Instrumentally, this song is very interesting, from the hypnotic and consistent drum beat of the verses( I just love the drums here), to the simple but strong declarations in the chorus, to the rich string arrangements, and finally the bridge. A lot of people take this bridge as noisy, sloppy and incoherent, I think it’s a masterpiece, well, we’re all entitled to our own opinions, let’s just leave it at that.

First of all, this song (musically) is a work of genius. It's one of a kind. There is such an incredible contrast between the simple ramblings of the verse and the powerfully sung chorus (and both of the beautifully chaotic bridges), and yet it somehow all fits together. Somehow the fully scored discordant strings just flow right into the sparse vocals/guitar/drums. If you were to share all three parts individually with another person, they would never guess that they all belonged to the same song. And yet, when you listen to it straight through, the transition feels......natural, I guess. It's like trying to talk to a friend about a very personal subject, and every now and then he'll let loose all his pent up anger and emotion, catch himself, and return to a calm and placated state
