Breeding Zebra Danios
![]() |
Condition several zebra danios and separate males into 1 tank and females into another for a week. Make up a small breeding tank with a layer of marbles on the bottom. Add about 10cm of water. After placing a dozen together, the eggs are laid. Being non-adhesive, they drop between the marbles. The water is shallow to prevent the parents from eating the eggs as they drop. After 2 hours, remove the parents and marbles. Hatch the eggs in the tank with a small airstone bubbling gently. |

If they don't lay within 4 hours, separate them for another 5 days, then repeat the process. The females should be swollen with eggs while the males are slender. After the babies are free swimming, feed them paramecium, later brine shrimpand micro worms. Adults can be fed white worms, or tubifex to bring them into breeding condition. |
