My Poetry Collection

My last year of high school put me onto a poetry bent for quite some time. I haven't written much recently, but I still like to have these around to remind me of feelings and thoughts.

Some background is needed, I think. Grade 12 and the first term of OAC (Grade 13 -- whatever you want to call it) was tough on me socially. This will all get explained more in my open journal project, but I'll try to summarize. Basically, the first girl that I 'asked out' (this was at the very end of grade 11) dumped me a week later, and then a week after that went out with my best friend at the time. This triggered my first real poem, 'Nothing Brings So Much to Mind'. Now, due to one reason or another, he and I remained friends (ie: we would spend lots of time together, he'd talk about stuff that was going on in his life, and ask me for advice). Also, she and I remained friends. This continued for quite some time (a year plus). During this time, a lot of bitterness piled up, and it finally found a way to release itself in the first term of OAC. I took a Writer's Craft course, and wrote and wrote and wrote. That's where most of the rest of my writing comes from. Since then, I've only written a few times, and I haven't been particularly pleased with the results (except for 'Cookie'), but I'll put them here anyway. Recent stuff has been more like just free-flow consciousness-to-paper writing, but that's okay, right?

Oh, and just to let you know, the second half of OAC made things all better as far a social stuff goes. <grin> That explains 'Forever and Always'. After that it's hard to pick out general themes, but I'm sure you'll get the idea. It gets a bit introspective, I think, but what do I know?
