Well, what can we say about Darkhaven? This is the place where everyone starts out. I have numbered a few of the more important areas around town that you should probably become familiar with as soon as possible.
#1 Darkhaven Academy.
This is the entrance into DH academy. Usually, once you've gotten safely past level 5, this is where you will find yourself being thrust into the realms proper. To the west, there is #3, which is where you can pick up some basic equipment from. Flareon and Enoch are also located there.
#2 The Altar to Thoric (Sonoria)
Well, you've died. This is the place where you will suddenly find yourself being reincarnated to. This is the Altar to Thoric inside of the Cathedral Notre Dame. Sonoria is here, and will cast helpful spells while you are in this room. All the way back south will lead you out of the cathedral and to the crossroads where you can get back to town.
#3 The Young Adventurer's Necessities
Here you can usually find Enoch and Flareon. They are both spellbots who can help you by casting spells on you. This can be quite useful. Read their bio's (WHOIS ENOCH) to see what you need to do in order for them to cast spells on you.
#4 A Shadowed Circle of Stones (Tagertale)
This is quite a handy place when you are younger. From here you can be teleported to many different places in the realms. Gnomes, newts, etc... Just read the the stone (LOOK STONE) to see the places you can go. Tage will ask you a question about the area you want to go to. You have to answer him correctly in order for you to be teleported.
#5 Thoth's Rune on Vertic Avenue
Now here is a place you will come to know quite well. This is the recall room for the entire realms (as long as you dont have a different one from your clan or guild). If you recite a recall spell in the realms, this is where you will be recalled to. (careful though, not all areas or rooms will allow you to recall out of them). You can purchase recall scrolls from Poshir's Scrolls (#9). ALWAYS have a recall or two on you. It's helpful. If you use Tage to teleport to an area, you automatically get a recall scroll in your inventory. :)
#6 Darkhaven Town Hall
Well, here is the town hall. If you ever need to post a note, or send a mudmail, this is the place to do it from. You can also pay for a fine to remove the (ATTACKER) flag if you have one. Type HELP NOTE for information on how to use notes and messageboards. Explore the different rooms to find out where the pertinent boards are at. If you head east directly after entering Town Hall, you will find yourself at the Courier. This is where you will send mudmails from. HELP MAIL for more information.
#7 Xygian's Mystical Objects
This is the place where you can buy your blank scrolls, empty flasks and various other magical items. Type LIST when you are inside for a current list of levels and prices for objects.
#8 Zelah's Apothecary
This is another place you should become familiar with as soon as possible. This is Zelah's Apothecary. From here you can buy quite a few different helpful potions. Type LOOK PLAQUE while in here to see a list of what each potion actually does. Sometimes you can find Ronko the shopping bot right outside this store. Usually you can get a better deal by buying through Ronko, so take advantage of her if she is there. (And watch out for her rump trumpet).
#9 Poshir's Scrolls
This is the place where you can buy some recall scrolls to have handy. Again, type LIST to see a current list of items for sale. You can also buy magical tablets here. These are very handy for identifying just about everything in the realms (including mobs and other players). Make sure you have a few of these, as you can learn alot about equipment you find by identifying it.
#10,11,12 The Shining Emerald, Darkhaven Courier, and Quills and Parchments
Each of these stores are pretty much self explanatory. You will need a note and a quill to write with if you want to actually send a mudmail or post a note. You can buy them here, or in town hall. The shining emerald is just a simple jewelry shop. Check them out, you'll see.
#13 The Damaged Goods
Orun is here to repair any equipment that might have gotten damaged during your travels. Take advantage of him as often as you need to. (Nothing sucks worse than having a hard won piece of equipment get scrapped during a fight). So make sure all your eq is fully repaired.
#14 The Solid Parry
Armor. Plain and simple. You can buy a few basic pieces of eq here. Occasionally you can find a pretty nice piece of eq here if someone sells it to the shopkeeper. Just keep an eye out while you are there.
#15 The Daring Attack
Bet you can't guess what this place is? Yep. Weapons. Same thoughts as for the Solid Parry, just with weapons.
#16,17,18 Matilda's Dairy Products, Darkhaven Bakery, and the Carnivore's Delight
You're gonna have to keep some food in your gut if you wanna stay alive and healthy. From each of these stores you can find all sorts of food products to keep you going.
#19 Out the East Gate
A couple of rooms east of the last room on the map is where you will find Nelkum, the Spell bot. Once again, it might be handy to pay attention to where he is, as his spells can be quite useful. He casts the same spells as Flareon. This is the way to get to Shattered Refuge (gnomes), Dwarven Daycare, and the Holy Grove. There are other areas out this way as well (Fire Newts). Too many to list. (Which is why I am making these maps in the first place).
#20 Out the North Gate
Out this way you can find Olympus all the way north, and Sentinel is out this way as well. (Don't forget that Sentinel is only open to players below level 20).
#21 Out the West Gate
Pixie Forest is just outside this gate and a little north. Tull manor is out here as well, just past the Pixie Forest. The Haon Dor forest is straight out west from here, as is the Canopy, Crystalmir Lake, Solace, and the High Tower of Sorcery..
#22 Out the South Gate
Straight south from here is the Black Forest (where those darn clogs come from). Just down the way from here is also Coral Depths, and a few other places as well.

Well, that about wraps it up for Darkhaven in general. There is a bit more to the city, and I will be adding it as I get the time. If there is anything you think should be here and it isn't, drop me a line and let me know.
