This is a wonderful place to level. Lotsa fun mobs that are repopping all the time. They are also nice and evil mostly, so you can level here and keep your alignment up (if you are into that sorta thing...)
Starting from here, inside the East Gate of Darkhaven. Just follow the map past me, and then past Nelkum.
Whew, you came a long way! Here you are, land of the fire newts. Head down into the mountain from here to begin your happy hunting. Oh, hope you didnt start attacking goats on the way here. (they tend to gang up when you do). Not surprisingly, it is on this level and the next (#2b) that I seem to come to most often when lending a hand to people. I cannot stress this enough. If you are young and new to the Fire Newt area, KEEP GOING. Don't stop here and start fighting newts right away. It is on these first two levels that the newts will really gang up on you and cause problems. Just keep going down to #2c and explore the bottom of the mountain until you are comfortable with your ability to lay a smack down on these things... Same advice as above. These two levels SWARM with newts occasionally, so keep going down if you can into the mountain and have a look around. You can usually find newts to fight one on one down there. (As opposed to the 5 on 1 here). Thank goodness. Glad someone is listening to me. Down here the fighting is alot less hectic, and you are less likely to find yourself getting swarmed by newts. Some of the newts down here are aggressive, and some of them are not. Usually you will only find one or two of them hanging around, so it is a little easier to handle them one at a time. This is a nice little place to goof around. There are quite a few baby newts here, with a couple of newt mothers. Nice thing about this place is that the newt eggs on the mothers will cast a heal when you eat them. Very handy for a quick heal. :) Area affects are good to clean out the hatchlings if you have anything of that sort available. Yep. A real pain in the tuckus Stay away from here and #8 if you're still unsure of yourself. The Sentinel newts are aggressive and a few levels higher than the other newt drones around. Once you are ready, though, they are alot of fun! :) BTW, careful in here when you FLEE, because you cant really control where you flee to. It might just be to #6 that you run... Yay! Lava Guardians! These guys are about the same level as the sentinel newts. And they pack about the same wallop. So use caution when coming in here. Aggressive again (no surprise there). Past all the doors you finally come here to the Fire newt Master. He is a much higher level than the surrounding newts, and a real pain. So get a coupla friends together and come down here and teach him a lesson or two. Well, back at #5 they were guarding the way to the newt master. Here they are guarding the way to the newt cleric just a few rooms beyond... This just keeps getting more and more fun. So here is the fire newt cleric. Luckily, he is NOT aggressive, so you can take a breath and relax for a minute b4 spanking him. He will cast offensive spells during the fight, so be prepared. Fire newt attendants. These guys are about the same level as the matriarch. Not quite as much a pain in the arse as the sentinels or guardians... Well, there is a door here to the east that leads into a nursery. Newt matriarch there. Newt egg. You know the drill. ;)

Just a note. The inventory items on this newt are mostly from stuff that was picked up. They will pick up stuff that is just lying around on the ground. This INCLUDES weapons that you drop by getting disarmed. So if you find yourself without your weapon for some strange reason and don't see it on the ground. Run around and lop off the heads of the fire newts until you find the one that has you item :).
