Well, after a few pain in the butt revisions, I present to you the Guantlet area map :) Just a quick note, you will have to have gone through the SENTINEL area first before getting here. The entrance to this area is listed on the Sentinel map (It's just past presence on that map). You WILL need the sentinel to unlock a few doors in this area. That being said, here it is...
#1 Just past Presence and down one...
This is the room you come into after going down from the room past presence. You will have needed the sentinel to open the door to get to this point. Borrow one if you have to. :) Just past here you will find yourself on Lake Spendlowe again. You will need to have fly on to get around this lake, or at least take the boat that you will find hanging near the shore of the water...
#2 Wounded Gnoll Chieftain
Here lies the wounded gnoll chieftain. He's not doing so well, and is just begging to be whacked. Which would be a good thing for you to do, as this is the mob with the suit of splint mail(armor). It's good stuff for warriors if you are interested. Don't worry too much, his wardog isn't going to jump into the fight unless you use an area affect attack.
#3 CAREFUL!
Yep. Gotta be careful here. You are approaching the keep, and the front way in is NOT the way to go. Just south of this room is a DEATHTRAP. Its the front gate of the keep. Trust me, its a much better idea to head southwest from here and find another means of getting in...
#4 & #5 Another way in?
Yep. Head down from here (the bushes will take a few hp away from you as you pass through them) and you will find yourself in front of another gate. This gate ALSO requires that you have the Sentinel glove to open it. Just inside the gate you will find the invisible guardian with the cold sword. (not really all that interesting, so don't even bother with him and move on...).
#6 Enough with the ants already...
Assuming you managed to live through all the pain in the butt ants, there is a hole here you can ENTER. This will lead you into a tunnel. Now tunnel means that only ONE person can pass through the couple of rooms to the east of here at a time. So if you are in a group, don't start panicking. Just follow each other through until you pop out the other side. Oh, and theres a couple more ants just waiting for you when you do get there. Another thing. There is a PRISON GEM to be found in this room. Grab it. There are a few more around in different parts of this area. Grab all the prison gems you can find, trust me, you'll see why in just a few...
#7 Out of the tunnel...
Here is where you will come up and out of the tunnel finally. That is a hobgoblin camp to the east of where you are now. Not really all that much of interest around here.
#8 Fire Giant Chieftain
The chief has the red plate mail and the flaming sword. Not really all that interesting EQ. Probably just best to leave him alone :).
#9 Open Dome and Doorbash Pillar
Well, if you don't have someone to give you a passdoor potion, you will need a warrior to doorbash the pillar. That is the only way into room #10. You can OPEN DOME and head up into the keep where there are a LOT of drunken gnolls hanging around doing gnollish things. :)
#9a & 9b Heading up the stairs...
This staircase leads all the way to the top of a tower. There are a couple of landings with doors leading off of them. First one you get to is (a) and then (b).
#10 Dungeon
Good! You managed to get the pillar bashed open (or you just walked through it with passdoor). Now what? Well, remember those prison gems I was telling you about? Drop one and sacrifice it. Go ahead. Poof! Here is the dread Ogrillon. This is the mob that is carrying the Duke's Robes and the Gauntlet. Easy mob overall, so just smack him down and loot his corpse. Now. Try dropping another prison gem and saccing it. voila! Another fun mob to smack around. The third time is a charm, though. Saccing a third gem will bring you the chieftains daughter. Enjoy!
#11 Stinkin Shaman!
Pain in the butt mob. She will curse you, she will blind you, she will make you unhappy. Be prepared for her, because she is aggressive.
#12 Battlements
Heading down from here will lead you to the battlements. A couple of gnoll archers hanging around here. From 9a and beyond there are gonna be a bunch of gnomes. Some of them are aggressive, and some are not. They were fairly easy to fight with two warriors around level 11, so they shouldnt be too much trouble. There is some interesting equipment on some of the gnolls, though. Hard leather boots, splinted sleeves, earring. Just run around and slaughter the place, you'll find some nice eq around. :)
