East Bali is a storehouse of ancient tradition. We start our day with a visit to the Kertha Gosa Palace of Justice, an 18th century royal court with astounding ceiling paintings. On the beach at Kusamba you will learn how traditional fishing and salt production is carried out. Next we visit the "bat cave" of Goa Lawah Temple, where the walls vibrate with a flurry of wings. In Tenganan we witness the unique culture of the Bali-Aga people, virtually unchanged in 1,000 years. Lunch at Candidasa beach is followed by a visit to the royal bathing pool of Tirta Gangga. Then a steeply climbing road takes us high in the hills for stunning views of the seashore and countryside below.
