Activities and Conservation Projects(Version en Castellano) (Version auf Deutsch)The objective of these consevation activities, is urging experiences of reproduction of the wild fauna that presents conservation problems. In Chile, contrary to what happens in other South American countries, the breeding of wild fauna, except for some exceptions of commercial character (Coipo, Chinchilla), it is not an activity of conservations, even having little impact as commercial activity. Biogeographic's Isla character that presents our continental territory, makes that most of the fauna species and native flora have characteristic of endemism, and even relictual character.
This initiative, has like object to help to survive and later on to stabilize to the only of the 89 species of the gender Liolaemus present in Chile that the Treaty of protection of the species of Washington and the Symposium of Conservation of the Fauna of Terrestrial Vertebrates of Chile", taken place in Santiago from Chile among the 21 and 24 of April of the year 1987, considered in the category in danger". The project contemplates then to capture part of the very few copies that live under natural conditions, to reproduce them and for I finish, after an exhaustive study of the conditions, asilvestrarlos gradually until achieving the population's relative stability. Parallelly the project will help to inform and to educate la population of the towns ecologically where L. gravenhorsti lives. But information to request it to the following electronic mail.
The following conservation activity outlines to begin a plan to determine the potential areas where it is feasible to find to Rhinoderma rufum, the toad cowboy of meager distribution in the central area of Chile. Once certain the sectors, she/he thinks about beginning the reproduction in captivity, in a first stage, like project pilot. The reproduction will be carried out in the serpentarium dependences of the Buinzoo, with a minimum of 10 to 20 copies. It fits to point out that he is already considered an almost extinct species, with a null knowledge about their biology, and some few mentions about their distribution of some decades ago. She thinks about the capture by means of alive traps, of a certain number of coatí copies or little bear of Juan Fernández, by means of methodologies of capture of minimum impact. All the copies captured this way, would have like destination zoological centers inside of and outside of Chile. A systematic capture will have a reduction of the natural populations as a result in the archipelago, and therefore, the impact of this species to the ecosystem will be less and less harmful.
