DECEMBER-2002
BBJ - Boeing Business Jet [31-Dec]
has announced an additional order for the Boeing BBJ. Total BBJ orders are now standing at 79. This Bizjet order is listed but not taken up in the 2002 order census.
British Airways [31-Dec]
has firmed up an option for one A320-200 with IAE V2527-A5 engines bringing it's total order for the type to 22. The delivery date is not known. The first British Airways A32X order was placed back on 26-Oct-98.
China Airlines [31-Dec]
has signed a LOI for 12 A330-300 plus 6 options with an undisclosed engine type. The delivery will stretch from Jul-04 till 2007.
CIT Group [31-Dec]
has firmed up two options for A320-200 with undisclosed engines bringing it's total order for the type to 41. The delivery date is not known.
easyJet [31-Dec]
has firmed up it's LOI dated 14-oct-02 and ordered 120 firm A319 and a further 120 options. Delivery will stretch from Aug-03 till Nov-07. Five A319 will be delivered in 2003. Options will run till 2012. On the 17th December the CFM56-5B5/P selection was announced.
Virgin Blue [31-Dec]
has signed a firm order for 10 B737-800s plus 40 options with first delivery in Aug-03. This initially undisclosed order was disclosed on the 16-Jan-03.
An undisclosed [31-Dec]
customer has signed a firm order for 11 B737-700s. More details will be posted when available.
EVA Air [31-Dec]
is the undisclosed customer who has signed a firm order for eight B777-300ERs. More details will be posted when available.
Singapore Airlines [11-Dec]
has firmed up an option for one B777-300 with RR Trent 892 engines bringing it's total order for the type to 11. The delivery date is not known.
NOVEMBER-2002
Air Tahiti Nui [30-Nov]
has signed for two additional A340-300s, bringing it's total orders for the type to three. First delivery will take place in '03.
Ethiopian Airlines [28-Nov]
has firmed up it's LOI dated 29 July 2002 and signed a firm contract which covers 3 each firm B737-700 and B767-300ER. The PW4062 engines were selected for the 767. First delivery will take place in Oct-03.
China Airlines [28-Nov]
has signed a firm order for six B747-400s and four B747-400Fs. Delivery will stretch from Jul-03 till 2006. This initially undisclosed order was disclosed on the 24-Dec-02.
An undisclosed [25-Nov]
customer has signed a firm order for two B747-400s. It is unconfirmed but likely that the order is from Thai International. More details will be posted when available.
Aeroflot [18-Nov]
has signed a LOI for eight A319-112/A320-214 with respectively CFM56-5B6/P and 5B4/P engines. The delivery will stretch from Sep-03 till Oct-05. The mix is apparently 6 A319 and 2 A320. In addition four newly ordered A320 will be leased via GECAS which will be supplemented by six additional leased aircraft which GECAS has already on order. A preliminary announcement of this LOI was already made on the 19th july 2002.
GECAS [18-Nov]
has signed a LOI for four A320-214 with CFM56-5B4/P engines. The delivery will take place in 2004 and 2005. These leased A320 will be supplemented by additional A319/320 which Aeroflot has ordered the same day.
Pakistan International Airlines [14-Nov]
has signed a firm contract for 3 B777-200ER, 2 -200LR and 3 -300ER, all to be powered by GE 90 engines (respectively -94B, -100B1 and -115B). The delivery will take place between Feb-04 and 2008.
KLM Royal Dutch [13-Nov]
has firmed up it's LOI dated 22 July 2002 and signed a firm contract which covers six firm A330-200s with 18 purchase-rights. An engine choice has not yet been announced, but the GE CF6-80E1A3 is in the lead. The delivery will start in Apr-05.

Vietnam Airlines [05-Nov]
has still not firmed up it's LOI dated September 2001. An announcement was made on the 30th October 2002 covering 5 firm A321-200. The delivery will take place between '02 and '05. No engine choice has been announced, but IAE has the lead vs. CFM.
OCTOBER-2002

customer has signed a firm order for one B747-400s. More details will be posted when available.
Qatar Airways [15-Oct]
has firmed up an option for one A330-200 with GE CF6-80A1E3 engines bringing it's total order for the type to 7. The delivery will take place in Jan-04.
Silk Air [11-Oct]
has firmed up options on two A319-132 with V2524-A5 engines and four A320-232 with V2527-A5 engines. The delivery will stretch from 2004 till 2008. Their total orders for the type are now respectively 6 and 10.
Japan Air Lines [07-Oct]
has ordered two B747-400F with CF6-80C2B1F engines for delivery in 2004. Total B747-400F orders are 93.
Iberia [01-Oct]
has firmed up an option for one A320-200 with CFM56-5B4/P engines bringing it's total order for the type to 59. The delivery date is not known.
Lufthansa [01-Oct]
has firmed up it's LOI dated 31st July by ordering 10 firm A330-300. The delivery will take place between Jan-04 and Nov-05 with five every year among which three each in the first quarter. The engine choice was announced in Jan-03 as being for the RR Trent 772B. The outstanding order for four firm A340-300 plus six options has been cancelled.
SEPTEMBER-2002
Air New Zealand [30-Sep]
has firmed up it's LOI dated 04th July by ordering five firm A320-200 and taking options on 20 A320. They will lease 10 additional A320. Engine choice is the V2527-A5. The delivery will stretch from Sep-03 till Dec-06. The options will run till 2012. This is their first A320 order.

has ordered an additional B777-200ER with PW4090 engines bringing their orders for the type to 9 with an additional 4 -300s. The delivery date is not known.

Austrian Airlines [05-Sep]
has ordered one A319-112 with CFM56-5B6/2P engines. In addition they converted six A320 to A319-112. There A32X orders are now respectively 7 A319, 8 A320 and 6 A321. The first delivery of the A319s is set for Jan-04 (in lieu of 2006 as previsously reported). Total A319 orders are now standing at 734.
AUGUST-2002
KLM Royal Dutch [26-Aug]
has firmed up the second part of it's Boeing widebody order. It covers ten firm B777-200ER with ten options and 8 additional purchase rights. Out of the ten firm 772s, six will be leased via ILFC. Engine choice for the B777 are GE90-94B, delivery will take place between Oct-03 and Jan-05.
Ryanair [21-Aug]
has firmed up three out of 50 options from it's 24th January order. This brings their total firm orders for the B737-800 to 131. The delivery will take place in Mar-2003. The first Ryanair B737NG order was placed back on 09-Mar-98.
Middle East Airlines [16-Aug]
has firmed up it's LOI dated 18-Apr-02. The firm order covers six A321-200 powered by IAE V2533 engines. The delivery will stretch from Jan-03 till Feb-04 with five deliveries in the first year. Total firm orders for the A321 are now standing at 416.
Southwest [15-Aug]
has converted two B737-700 options to a firm order. This undisclosed order was disclosed on the 05-Nov-02. Total Southest 737-700 orders are 242.
ILFC [01-Aug]
has signed a firm order for one each A319 and A320 with undisclosed engine types and delivery dates. Total ILFC orders for the types are respectively 126 and 197.
Qantas Airways [01-Aug]
has firmed up an option for four B737-800 with CFM56-7B26 engines bringing it's total order for the type to 19. The delivery will stretch from May-03 till Jul-03. The first Qantas B737NG order was placed back on 09-Nov-01.
An undisclosed [01-Aug]
customer has signed a firm order for one A319-115CJ with CFM56-5B7/P engines. Due to earlier announcements it is assumed that the customer is the Italian AF.
JULY-2002
Aeromexico [31-Jul]
has signed a LOI which covers 15 firm B737-700. The delivery will start in Aug-03.
CIT Group [30-Jul]
has signed a firm order for two A320 with undisclosed engine type and a 2004 delivery date. Total CIT orders for the A320 family are now 64 with 38 A320 orders.
ILFC [30-Jul]
has signed a firm order for 4 A319, 3 A320, 3 A321 and one A332 with undisclosed engine types and delivery dates. At the same time they cancelled existing orders. Total ILFC orders for the A320 family are now 437.
Southwest [25-Jul]
has converted two B737-700 options to a firm order. This undisclosed order was disclosed on the 05-Nov-02. Total Southest 737-700 orders are 240.
CIT Group [12-Jul]
has signed a firm order for two A320 with undisclosed engine type and a 2006 delivery date. Total CIT orders for the A320 family are now 62 with 36 A320 orders.
Federal Express [12-Jul]
has firmed up it's LOI dated 16th January 2001. The firm order covers 10 firm A380-800Fs with ten options. The freighters will be powered by Alliance GP7277 engines. The delivery of the A388Fs will stretch from 2008 till 2011 with three deliveries each in the first three years. Total firm orders for the A380 are now standing at 95.
Qatar Amiri Flight [03-Jul]
has signed a firm order for one A340-500 to be used as VIP transport. The customer is undisclosed. Delivery of MSN 495 will occur in Jun-03.
GB Airways [02-Jul]
has firmed up an option for one A320-200 with IAE V2527-A5 engines bringing it's total order for the type to 7. The delivery date is not known.
JUNE-2002
An undisclosed [28-Jun]
customer has signed a firm order for one B737-800. More details will be posted when available.
COPA Airlines [28-Jun]
has signed a follow-on order for four B737-700 and two B737-800. They took options on 4 -700 and two -800s. Delivery will start in Oct-03. This order was disclosed on the 26th August 2002. They had already eight -700s on order.
Iberia [26-Jun]
has signed a firm order for three A340-642 with RR Trent 556-61 engines, this is their first order for this subtype. Total A340 orders from Iberia are 21, 18 of which are for the -300. Delivery of the A346 will stretch from Jun-03 till Jul-03.
Thomas Cook [20-Jun]
has signed a firm order for two A320-214 with CFM56-5B4/P engines bringing it's total order for the type to 2. The delivery will stretch from Feb-03 till Apr-03. This is their first A320 order.
KLM Royal Dutch [14-Jun]
has firmed up it's LOI dated 28th March 2002. The firm order covers 3 firm B747-400ERFs with three options. Two of these firm orders are conversions of existing orders for 747-400M (combi). Engine choice are GE CF6-80C2B5F for the B744. The delivery of the B744s will stretch from Mar-03 till Feb-04.
Emirates [14-Jun]
has firmed up an option for two A330-243 with RR Trent 772B-60 engines bringing it's total order for the type to 28. The delivery will stretch from Jun-03 till Oct-03. The first Emirates A330 order was placed back on 15-Oct-96.
MAY-2002
Cathay Pacific Airways [31-May]
has firmed up it's LOI dated 26th April 2002 and signed for three B777-300 powered with RR Trent 892B engines. This latest order brings it's orders for the type to 10. The delivery will stretch from 2003 till 2004.
Swiss International Airlines [28-May]
has firmed up it's LOI dated 26th March 2002 and signed for 13 A340-313 with CFM56-5C4/P engines. The delivery of the A340s will stretch from Jul-03 till Aug-04. The initial CFM56-5C4 engines will be upgraded to 5C4/P standard.
SAA South African Airways [24-May]
has firmed up it's LOI dated 07th March 2002. The firm order covers 11 A319-100, 15 A320-200, six A340-300 and six A340-642. Engine choice for the narrowbodies has not yet been announced. SAA is the launch customer for the upgraded CFM56-5C4/P engine on the A340-300. The A340-600 will be powered by RR Trent 556-61s. The delivery of the A319 will start in 2005, the first A320 will be delivred in 2010. The A346 deliveries will stretch from Nov-02 till Dec-03, while A343 deliveries will start in Feb-04. In addition SAA will lease three A340-600 from ILFC for 10 years, delivery is scheduled between Nov-03 and Mar-05. Six ex Lufthansa A342 will be leased till the delivery of the A343 will start.
Alaska Airlines [10-May]
has signed a firm order for two B737-700s with delivery set for 2003. This order was initially listed as undisclosed and disclosed on 30th May. Total Alaska 737NG orders are 19 for the -700 and 12 for the -900.
Cathay Pacific Airways [03-May]
has firmed up it's LOI dated 26th April 2002 and signed for three A330-343 powered with RR Trent 772B-60s. This latest order brings it's orders for the types to 23. The delivery will stretch from 2003 till 2004.
Northwest Airlines [03-May]
has firmed up options for four A319-114 and two A320-212 powered respectively by CFM56-5A5 and CFM56-5A3 engines. This latest order brings it's total orders for the type to 78 respectively 84. The delivery will stretch from 2004 till 2005. The first Northwest A320 order was placed back on 18-Dec-86.
APRIL-2002
Jet Blue Airways [30-Apr]
has firmed up an option for two A320-232 with IAE V2527-A5 engines bringing it's total order for the type to 76. The delivery will stretch from Dec-02 till May-03. The first Jetblue A320 order was placed back on 21-Apr-99.
WestJet Airlines [26-Apr]
has converted two options for B737-700 to a firm order. This order brings their firm orders to 30 B737-700. The delivery date is between Apr-03 and Jul-03. The first WestJet B737NG order was placed back on 23-Aug-00.
Italian Air Force [23-Apr]
has signed a firm order for four B767-200. On the 11th December 2002, this formerly undisclosed order was confirmed as being for the Italian Air Force. They will receive the first 767TT (Tanker Transport) in 2005, with deliveries continuing until 1Q 2008.
China Eastern Airlines [16-Apr]
has firmed up an earlier announcement for 20 A320-214 powered by CFM56-5B4/Ps bringing it's total order for the type to 30. Delivery will start in Dec-02 and will end in Nov-05.
Midwest Express [15-Apr]
has firmed up it's MOU dated 10-Apr-01 which covered 20 717-200s plus 30 options. The firm order is for 25 B717-200 plus 25 options. Engines will be RR BR 715A1-30. Delivery is scheduled between February 2003 and Mid 2005. Total firm orders for the B717 are 162.
An undisclosed [15-Apr]
customer has signed a firm order for one B767-200. It is unconfirmed but likely that Saudi Aramco Associated is the customer. More details will be posted when available.
Bahrain Amiri Flight [02-Apr]
has signed a firm order for one B747-400 for VIP duties. This order is listed as undisclosed by Boeing.
MARCH-2002
Indian Airlines [28-Mar]
has announced a LOI for 19 A319-100, 4 A320-200 and 20 A321-200 powered by CFM56-5B engines. The delivery date will stretch from 2004 till 2008. The finalization of the order might take several months.
Air Tran [22-Mar]
has firmed up seven options for B717-200 with RR BR715C1-30 engines bringing it's total order for the type to 60. The delivery date is not known. The first Air Tran 717 order was placed back on 19-Oct-95.
Kenya Airways [22-Mar]
has signed a firm order for three B777-200ERs. The engine choice is not known. Delivery is scheduled between '04 and '05. This order cancels their B767-400ER order placed back in 12-Sep-00.
Qatar Airways [20-Mar]
has firmed up an option for one A320-200 with IAE V2527-A5 engines bringing it's total order for the type to 10. The delivery date is not known. The first Qatar A32X order was placed back on 31-Dec-98.
An undisclosed [18-Mar]
customer has signed a firm order for one each B737-700 and -800. More details will be posted when available.
Frontier Airlines [15-Mar]
has firmed up an option for two A319-111 with CFM56-5B5/P engines bringing it's total order for the type to 12 with another 5 A318 on order. The delivery date is scheduled for Dec-02. In addition Frontier changed the engines type for its five firm and five optioned A318s from PW6024 to CFM56-5B/Ps, delivery of which is scheduled to start in July-03. The first Frontier A32X order was placed back on 10-Mar-00.
Atlas Air [11-Mar]
has apparently signed a LOI for five firm A380-800Fs with an additional five options. The delivery date and engine choice are not yet known. The finalization of the order might take several months.
Southwest [06-Mar]
has converted two B737-700 options to a firm order. This undisclosed order was disclosed on the 05-Nov-02. Total Southest 737-700 orders are 238.
FEBRUARY-2002
Qatar Airways [19-Feb]
has firmed up an option for one A330-203 bringing it's total order for the type to 6. The delivery date of the GE CF6-80E1A3 powered A330 is not known. The first Qatar A330 order was placed back on 15-May-01.
WestJet Airlines [15-Feb]
has been discolsed as the undisclosed customer which converted two options for B737-700 to a firm order. This order brings their firm orders to 28 B737-700. The delivery date is not known. The first WestJet B737NG order was placed back on 23-Aug-00.
An undisclosed [13-Feb]
customer has signed a firm order for one A319-132CJ with IAE V2527M-A5 engines. This order was cancelled in August 2002.
SALE [01-Feb]
has firmed up an option for one A320-200 bringing it's total order for the type to 42, with another 3 A319 and 6 A321 on order. The delivery date of the IAE powered A320 is scheduled for May-04. The first SALE A320 order was placed back on 20-Sep-99.
JANUARY-2002
Vietnam Airlines [31-Jan]
has firmed up it's LOI dated 17-Nov-00 covering four firm B777-200ERs with PW4084D engines. Delivery will start in Aug-03.
Ryanair [24-Jan]
has signed a firm order for one hundred B737-800 bringing it's total order for the type to 128. The delivery will stretch from 2002 till 2010. The first Ryanair B737NG order was placed back on 09-Mar-98.
Qatar Airways [10-Jan]
has firmed up an option for one A320-232 with IAE V2527-A5 engines bringing it's total order for the type to 9. The delivery date is not known. The first Qatar A32X order was placed back on 31-Dec-98.
Jetblue Airways [09-Jan]
has firmed up an option for ten A320-232 with IAE V2527-A5 engines bringing it's total order for the type to 74. The delivery will stretch from 2002 till 2005. The first Jetblue A320 order was placed back on 21-Apr-99.
Frontier Airlines [02-Jan]
has firmed up an option for one A319-111 with CFM56-5B5/P engines bringing it's total order for the type to 10 with another 5 A318 on order. The delivery date is scheduled for 2002. The first Frontier A32X order was placed back on 10-Mar-00.
