The aim of the following table is to provide an overview of the 2001 orders for commercial aircraft with more than 100 seats. The information was collected by using different sources. However if you think that an order is missing or incorrect feel free to post an . Don't forget to mention your source.

There are seven totals which are presented :

[A] The total firm gross orders.	Those are all announced orders for commercial aircraft from airlines. Excluded are all other customers, like military, Bizjets or VIP orders. Canceled orders or conversions are not considered at this stage.
[B] The firm gross order value.	The figure is in billion US$. Considered for these figures are the average list prices and the ordered aircraft as per section [A].
[C] The total firm net orders.	Those are the orders of section [A] but including the canceled and converted orders announced in the same period.
[D] The total letters of intent.	Those are all announced LOI's for commercial aircraft from airlines. Excluded are all other customers, like military, Bizjets or VIP orders. Canceled LOIs are not considered.
[E] Total gross orders and Loi's	This is the sum of sections [A] and [D]
[F] Total canceled and converted orders	These are the orders which were canceled or converted during the period taken up in the table. Orders which were announced and canceled the same year are shown in this table. This is not the practice with the manufacturers.
[G] Total gross orders by region	This subtable shows the geographical distribution of the gross orders.

The 2001 order census is presented with the following data (from left to right):

• The name of the customer.
• The ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) 3 letters codes, used officially since 25-Oct-1987.
• The date of announcement of the order.
• The region of the customer :
  • EU - Europe and CIS
  • AS - Asia and Pacific
  • NA - North America
  • SA - South and Latin America
  • ME - Middle East
  • AF - Africa
  • LE - Leasing companies
  • ?? - Undisclosed customers
  • XX - Bizjets and non civil customers
• A three letter comment :
  • CVT - indicates an order conversion.
  • CXD - indicates an order which was canceled in the same calendar year.
  • TBC - indicates that the information needs to be confirmed, concerns mostly the identity of undisclosed customers.
  • UND - indicates a former undisclosed customer.
  • 2002 - indicates a conversion announced in 2002.
• A one letter comment :
  • L - indicates a letter of intent highlighted by the red font.
  • O - indicates a firm order highlighted by the black font.
  • X - indicates a order placed by a non commercial customer highlighted by the blue font.
• The various aircraft are listed with a six digit code, for instance the Boeing 777-300ER orders are listed in the 777-3ER column.
• The engine selection is not included, however they are shown in the order news section.
