New Doings and Dancings at the Studio
We will be so happy when winter is over, and it should be furry soon. Meanwhile, our memfurs kept warm, stayed in good shape, and had lotsa fun in the Dance Aerobics classes. All our classes are getting geared up fur more activity now.
Folk Dancing classes officially start this monff on Wednesday afternoons, but we've had a good time trying out a few diffurnt kinds wiff those of mew who signed up early. So far the fafurites seem to be Polish, Irish and Mexican, but we tried out some offurs, too.
Some of the boys wanted to try Turkish folk-dancing, so we did. I think dey misunderstood that we was gonna serve turkey. Nope. Some of the girls thought that meant belly dancing. Nonono. Nobody sees mine but my mom. When we tried Russian, the boys had fun sticking out their leg from on the floor, but dey should try not to trip the girls so much. Or the teachers. Scottish was furry popular, and we may go on wiff that as soon as we all agree on what a kilt is. The biggest tryout success we had so far is Mexican folk dancing. I'm sure it has nothin to do wiff the chicken tamales.
Mew can see the results of our tryouts under "Spotlight" below.
To answer questions mew haff about offur new classes: First, no, the Polka isn't a folk dance, we are not quite sure what it is, but we are purrty sure mew doesn't gotta wear polka dots to dance it. We will look into that. Second, yes, square dancing is definitely Country! We will be adding Square Dance classes to our Friday country dancing classes any time we haff eight kitties or sixteen kitties (I think) in class and one who can holler loud.
We hope to see more of all mew memfurs as Spring arrives and colors up our days and makes us feel efen more like dancing!
Our Basic Infurmation:
Any kitty can apply fur membership in the dance studio, it's easy! Just send us an email here to let us know, and we will enroll mew and send mew a memfurship card.
Check our schedule here to see when the classes and Dance Nights are, in case anything changes.. Our memfurs only take classes if they want to, and can take as many as they'd like. They can use the studio fur practice whenefur they wish, and attend any dance nights, when they can bring a guest if they'd like to. Tell your furriends about the studio, they might like to join, too. We luff to get new memfurs.

No, we didn't take class pictures in dance aerobics, but did mew really want your picture taken on the floor wiff one foot in the air and that look on your face? Me neiffur. Our meowmies take enough of that kind, thank mew. But we had lotsa fun getting in the best shape fur the folk dancing classes, which take lotsa energy!
Howefur, we did sneak in a few pictures as we tried out some Folk Dancing.
See our Folk Dancing previews here!
We plan to feature the other kinds of folk dancing we learn as the year goes on. Also, stay tuned fur a Spring activity!

Don't furget to check out our Studio Shoppe fur your dancing outfits and workout clothes, shoes, dance bags, or anything else mew might need. The girls going into Advanced Ballet dis year will find the best toe shoes and tutus here. Let us know if mew need anything else and we can order it. Fur those memfurs who wondered if we had jelly donuts in the shoppe, nope. Those can be found near the teachers in each day's classes, but it is wise to get here early.
Now fur our regular dance article by Phelicity.
Kitty Aerobics
We kitties practice our own kind of aerobics, as we haff been learning in dance aerobics classes. It's a whole diffurnt thing from other kinds of exercise or training.
Kitties don't do yoga, fur example. We accomplish that stuff when we take naps, and we are light years ahead of humans in relaxation and meditating. They could learn from us. We don't run in place, cuz that is so silly. We only run when we want to get somewhere, that's what it's for. We are certainly too graceful to do anything like jogging, ewwww. We don't pedal stationary bicycles cuz motor scooters are much more fun and take us places. We sure doesn't lift weights that could fall on our heads!
Nope, our dance aerobics really are like dancing. Except fur the ones that aren't. Our most popular kind turned out to be the stretching exercises. That's why we had to use three studios instead of one, because a foot an a half long kitty can take up six feet of floor if he stretches really good! It's amazing! And furry relaxing. At least half of our students fell asleep at that point. That's why we had to limit the stretches to the end of each class.
Aerobics should wake us up furst! It's not as easy to stay woke up and active in the cold, icy winter lots of us haff seen as it will be in the Spring, may that efur purrlease come. In winter we tend to plop and stay in the warmest spot we can find, risking that some human might attack it wiff a vacuum monster!
When we suggested taking mew all cross-country skiing, mew really got into the spirit of inside aerobics. The catnip tea an jelly donuts helped, too. And isn't it fun to do the jumps and struts and kicks to mewsic? I think we are all in better shape than any cats who just slept thru the winter. Sleep is good. I always get my 18 hours of beauty sleep myownself. But dere nefur was a cat who didn't get enough.
We haff learned how natural aerobics come to us, and how much like dancing it is. So we will be all ready fur jumping and running in the Spring, wiffout getting any sprained paws. And all ready fur the most active dancing. Remember, this is so easy to practice at home, too. It isn't noisy like tap or obvious like ballet. Nobody will even know. The best practice time there is still 3 A.M.

This monff we haff a new folk dancing DVD in our shoppe that we will also be playing in class. Lotsa fun kinds to learn are on here.
