Sports

dpingpong1 As part of the all-inclusive nature of Club Fortuna, any equipment needed for any non-motorized sport is available to guests at no charge. Just go to the 'Beach Shack', show them your room key, and you're in business. Equipment available here includes that needed for Windsurfing, Sailing, Kayaking, Tennis, Archery, Snorkeling, and Basketball. Other sports are also available around the resort including Ping Pong and Pool tables (Pool is 4 US Quarters per game) in the Rec Room, Volleyball and Bocce Ball on the beach, Soccer over by the beach shack, Water Polo in the pool, etc. They even have organized times for playing some of those that require a lot of players. Here's what the schedule looks like for a typical week of sports. There is also a Gym on site that is open from 9:00AM to 12:30PM and from 3:00PM to 7:30PM. In addition to all the free sports, there are others available that are extra charge. These include Jet Ski, Water Ski, Banana Boat, Snorkeling excursions, Golf excursion (2 miles from resort), and Horseback riding (7 miles from resort).

SCUBA

A final sport that is available at extra charge is SCUBA diving. Club Fortuna has its own complete dive shop on site. Here's some of the feedback I've heard from serious divers about this dive operation...

"Yes they are very good and offer two dive trips each day, a two tank dive in the AM and a one tank dive in the PM..Also will arrange special dives(night and shark dives)..I just got back and spent several days with these folks and they are first class and have everything on premises of resort..They are associated with PADI and follow strict rules for diving..Classes are available for certification..The staff is multi-national from Europe, S. America, America, and New Zealand." - Frank, October 2000

"Well, that's all I can think of to update, except to please keep telling people that the dive shop is top-notch! We have been to others in other countries and would have to say this is one of, if not, the best as far as equipment, and instruction!" - Becky and Joe, March 2001

scubabrochure0 We've scanned the inside of their brochure about their offerings. For certified divers, they have one and two tank dives every day. They also offer special dives like Theo's Wreck, Shark Point, Lucaya Hole, and night dives. For those who don't already have their certification they offer SCUBA Diver, PADI or SSI Open Water Diver, Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver, and Medic First Aid classes and certifications. If you just want to 'test drive' SCUBA to see if you like it, they have a couple of 'discover' courses. Every afternoon in the pool they'll help you try out the equipment for no charge, eight to eleven year olds can try out 'bubblemakers' in the pool for $20, and finally, there's a full day course that includes classroom work, pool experience, and culminates in the afternoon with a 40-foot reef and wreck dive for $100. Our thirteen year old did this course and took some great underwater pictures of both the reef and the wreck portions of the dive.
